Yes, definitely a girl on top of that windmill. The how and the why remain to be seen. I'm kind of hoping the "why" never gets answered - she's just the kind of girl who hangs out on top of windmills.

Windmill turbine ... hmm. I seem to remember in the extras for Book 2, a character design for an early version of Hannelore had her posing in front of a turbine, and I wondered why. P'raps Jeph sifted/is sifting through early ideas for something to take in a new direction.
Don't even know, not even trying to guess where I'm going with that, but glimpses into another's creative process are always fascinating.
We shall see.

Just to be perverse, I picture Alice Grove as being a place - a grove (woodland, coppice, etc) named after Alice.  After all, we've seen woodland in two comics, and a girl in only one...

I'm in the person faction. I mean, I think that Alice Grove is the name of the main character, who is the girl on the wind turbine. Just my guess, of course.
Anyway, I like the start of the comic and I am sooo excited for the next update!

It's here! ....almost. Phew! Thank dog for the back-up Tumblr!

Anyway, it certainly looks interesting and I like the motion and mood of the opening. I'm expecting this one to be less light-hearted than QC.. not that QC is a comedy as such, but I mean this one seems like it'll be a straighter story. I recall Jeph saying it is not based within the QCverse, and will not be populated with service AI wind turbines.

I must say that I'm not sure I have the patience for twice-weekly updates, as even Iverly's thrice-weekly zombie mogg feels slow compared with QC! I hope that the slower updates allows for beautiful art on every giant panel.. plus of course the continuance of the QCverse meanwhile! I guess it'll also give Jeph space to be sure about the direction each story arc takes. There would be some pressure upon him to produce quality work and story now that he has the QC fame and following.

P.S. Mysterious Mystery Marathon Man is cute.
P.P.S. Alice Grove to me has a lat/long position, not a heartbeat.

I'm one of JJ's patreon-patrons, and as far as I recall it will be called "Alice in Sunderland" who is an electrician. (Unless I dreamed this -- going back I can't find the reference.)

I very much doubt that's the problem.  Who would DoS a new comic in which nothing has happened?  In any case, it's likely that the new comic has been given the same anti-DoS protection as QC (using the free version of CloudFare).  I suspect a simple misconfiguration that will be sorted when Jeph or his server admin enters daylight.

I don't think Throg meant that it was a deliberate DDOS attack. It's just that the flood of people visiting the new site resembled a DDOS attack. Sort of like what happens whenever George Takei posts a link on Facebook - more than one server has crashed under the resulting load.
