Actually, if nothing much changes, I think that Sal will find it fairly easy to stay out of Malaya's way. She'll just use her room even less than she did before.

I'm just wondering if Sal will need to protect Malaya from Red Amber. She is the sort of personality who would find the angle to set off the worst aspects of Amber's psyche pretty quickly!

Joyce can be amazingly random sometimes. You can never be sure what is going to come out of her mouth from moment to moment! Today's strip (9/8) is a good example. She goes from all out MLP 'The Magic of Friendship' in panel 2 to pseudo-Klingon wearing trophy anatomy in panel 6!

It's about time that someone told Joyce to lay off the intrusive match making with Jacob, Raidah and Sarah. Though I'm a bit surprised it was Joe was the one who spoke up first.

The way I read today's comic is that the reason Joyce is trying to break up Jacob and Raidah isn't because of Sarah, but because Joyce has a crush on Jacob.

The interesting part of it is that Joyce is unwilling to admit that fact to herself because Jacob "is Sarah's". I'm wondering if Joe's role will be to expose to Joyce that her behaviour is based at least as much on her own desires as her fixation on giving her friends their due 'happily ever after'.

Episcopalian is the most common religious affiliation for USA presidents.  That is all I know about the organization. Christianity is not my field of expertise, by far.

Also, Joyce, knock it off. Your intrusive meddling in other people's relationships is rude, controlling, and invasive.

Panel 3 in today's strip (12/9/17) is curious and I can't help but think about it. Is Malaya... lonely? She seems to expect rejection and has long since given up hope of anything else. Is that why she's so adversarial? Is she so used to failing to make connections with people that she sets out to sabotage them in advance so that she saves herself the pain of shattered hopes?

I don't know how close friends Joyce and Billie are really but one think I do know is this: The high school cheerleader in Billie is not about to let anyone she knows go out on a date with a 'smoking hot' nice guy without looking as beautiful as she can get. It's a matter of professional pride.

Now, is it me or does no-one in Read Hall actually think that Raidah deserves Jacob?

What is worse...

Having a creepozoid try to drug you and date rape you , but have that plot foiled and the pleasure jamming a glass into his face...

or

Having a list of women you would want to sleep with, and how you rank them physically...

or

An (apparent) entire MOB of people actively looking to separate you from your boyfriend, (with whom, as far as they know) you are engaged in a firm loving relationship with) because one of the mob's friends feel "you don't deserve him".

Discuss...
(or... you know... don't... But personally I think a lot of Joyce/Jason shippers are being a tad hypocritical)

I've never had any of these three things happen to me, but I'd argue that having to defend yourself against a violent crime before passing out from being roofied is probably more harrowing than even the most undeserved or petty relationship drama.

It's curious because, in a way, I think that Sarah and Billie are doing it for Joyce (the revenge on Raidah being a bitterly pleasant side-benefit).

Nah.
This is revenge.
Totally manipulating someone they say is their friend to hurt another girl.
(Today's strip lays that bare)

So... Let's manipulate the naďve, almost-rape victim, by using her as an unknowing sexual lure, pretending it's for the benefit of someone she views as a friend...

Classy.

No, Sarah's pretending to go along with Joyce's plan to get Jacob with Sarah, but she's actually wanting to get Jacob with Joyce. Sarah has accepted that she and Jacob are not a good fit, but she doesn't want Raidah to have him so she's trying to get him to fall for Joyce.

I... don't think that it would be the 'wrong' end of any stick. The only question we need to address here is whether Ethan is willing or able to interpret his own reactions correctly.

No, the crime-fighting trio will be Sal, Amber and Dorothy. Jacob will be the well-meaning ADA trying to find a way to maintain conventional law and order in a city where costumed vigilantes will be the single most effective law-enforcement organisation. Joyce will be the good-natured wife or housemate who doesn't realise that her significant other is, in fact, the Mysterious [[$Mask_Name]]. As for Becky? She's going to be too busy making sure Carla's dad doesn't misuse the viable dinosaurid DNA she's been digging up for him.

What? A guy can dream, can't he?

I mean, Dorothy would be part of the crime-fighting trio as the girl behind several monitors hacking into the mainframe and reversing the polarities so Sal and Amber can get in and defeat the spice dealers, sure.

That was surprisingly fun to write.

I'm getting the feeling that Billie could be in a bad situation here. Nash and Beatrice are talking a lot by ASL behind Billie's back and they do seem to be going to some effort to bring out the worst in her personality. This is either newbie hazing or they're just trying to manipulate Billie to make her easily controllable.

Like Billie, I'm curious about the 'no pets' rule for Forest Hall. I'd definitely want to talk to Lucy about how that came about.
