So, the first full week of January has come and we have a drama before us. Will Jeph follow up Faye's evident cry for help or will he move on to something else, not wanting to draw drama?

My guess is that this is the logical next step of Faye's character arc, so he will follow it up. However, I don't expect it to be a gritty arc about DTs and Fayes many issues. He'll try to keep it light-hearted but I do think we'll be reminded just how badly wounded Faye's early live experiences left her, the degree to which 'the Pugnacious Peach' is a defensive mask and just how good a set of friends she has.

I'm also expecting at least one Hanners stalking Juicy or Clinton and Emily strip to break up the main thread. Jeph seems to have pretty much established the pattern of four connected and one filler strip per week now.

She actually has a premonition about this conversation in panel 3 of 2838, and the timing of it along with Marten's open invitation just makes things worse.  It all makes sense now!

With Tai, it always boils down to sex in strange places or ways, doesn't it? Sometimes, I think that she lets her inner erotica writer have too much influence over her everyday life. Frankly, I think that Jeph is setting up a scenario where Claire (who we know has been thinking about it a lot) jumps Marten. I've got the feeling that sex in the stacks is her personal kink, you see!

I also think that the Easter Egg Contraceptive hunt is setting up a crude comedy of errors. Claire will come on strong (because Tai said that Marten needs 'a little push' every now and then). Then she finds that he has a pocket full of recovered condoms and mistakes that for an indication that he was planning this anyway. This will either surprise her, make her nervous and make her decide to wait for when there is less pressure or it will mean that they don't get any work done that day!

Agreed; as a rule of thumb, the character's expression relates to what they are saying in that panel if they are talking. Only if they're not talking does their expression relate to either what is being said by others in that panel or what was said in the last.

To my knowledge, outside her family, only Marten and Emily are aware of Claire's trans status (and there are questions as to how clearly Emily may or may not understand it). In any case, as far as Tai knows, Claire has the same concerns about unplanned pregnancy as any other woman.

Additionally, condoms are hygienic barriers too. Claire is probably a virgin but Marten has had at least two regular and one casual sexual partner that we know about. Claire should certainly use protection, just in case.

I read some of this stuff, One rather long story, actually. You would be surpriced. For example, when the author wants to emphasize how hot a woman is, he makes her very hairy. The protagonist's favorite has black hair all over her arse. Tastes change.

There's something about human brains that not only decides the weird shimmery liquid is obviously magic, but that it's exactly the sort of magic that will cure disease and stop you from aging. I find myself wondering just how long Claire had been nagging Tai. You see, I've got this feeling that the flyer for the rave was entirely just trolling to wind her up even further. Although with Tai, you can't ever be entirely sure, can you?

So, should Claire relax slightly? Well, you can't blame her for taking her vocation seriously. I just wonder how far Tai can push her before she blows her top? Certainly by just ignoring Claire and then demonstrating clearly that she's going to make the Library a playground (because she can), she's going the right way about it! I wonder if she'll go crying to Marten and he'll advise her (in true Marten style) to just roll with it?

Oh, and I love the 'carnal playground' thing. I maintain that Claire has at least thought about this before.

I'm going to guess that Claire's indignation has a lot more to do with covering her own desires than it does with her opinions on the sanctity of libraries.  I agree that Tai is handling it correctly, and while I don't necessarily expect it, I wouldn't be surprised if Marten and Claire end up at the rave, should it actually exist.
