Totally a guess, but working for a show like that, even as "just a correspondent", must take every ounce of energy and time you've got. There's probably a timewarp effect too.

He probably hasn't had time to call his mom, much less engage with hurtful elements of an increasingly distant past.

Angus is actually wearing a Bubbles outfit and contemplating his place in the universe as well as sorting his emotional problems.

Unfortunately, this has meant a complete wipe of his memories and identity.

I just hope he's found somebody who won't resent him for having and following his ambitions.
