So far, you seem to have called it!   :-D
That, or the mysterious mutant plague has incapacitated all of the hairdressers...

--- End quote ---

Good catch, but Jeph has been known to miss details like this before (for example Faye's appearing and disappearing scar), so doesn't necessarily mean anything just yet.

Elder Sign:
I wonder if this Cubetown is truly free-floating off the Nova Scotian coast, or if it subsumed Sable Island or something when it was manifested by its community of AIs.

--- Quote from: John Allenson on 11 Aug 2022, 09:11 ---The UK is still trying to get rid of Boris Johnson who is the closer to Trump than any Canadian political figure.

--- End quote ---

If we have a Trump equivalent here in Canada, it's either Maxime Bernier or Doug Ford.

--- Quote from: Mr_Rose on 11 Aug 2022, 08:22 ---Because the stacks are held under high vacuum to preserve the paper better.

--- End quote ---

mmmm, vacuum would not be good for organics, pulls out all the volatiles.  Paper might better be kept in a neutral environment, some partial pressure of noble gasses, such as Argon.  Also need some humidity (30%?), being careful of the waters purity.

--- End quote ---
Hmm, yes. Though you’d still want specialist handling hardware - normal grease/oil/coolant may be prone to sublimation in a low-pressure environment and you don’t want anything tracking outside air and dirt into the vault.

--- End quote ---
Which, would definitely necessitate a virtual position using an aforementioned AIless waldo for an organic to operate. The real trick might be navigation for Claire as she may be wont to try walkling while in VR for a bit.

Tova:

--- Quote from: Mr_Rose on 11 Aug 2022, 08:22 ---Twist: it’s a virtual interview because it’s a virtual position. They have a holographic terminal and nonsentient drone waldoes for remote workers. And local workers too. Because the stacks are held under high vacuum to preserve the paper better.

--- End quote ---

You would think that this might be mentioned in passing when they advertised the position. The availability of remote work isn’t something you’d want to keep secret if you want to attract applications.
