^lol, looks like you missed it too.

I have not bought an album recently, but I HAVE ordered 'Radio Ixtlan' by Ewigkeit.

Which is a very, very awesome album.

Got a package from RRRecords today:
Skullflower-Obsidian shaking Codex-CD-r
This is truly wonderful, a masterpiece of heavy drone. Despite employing very long song lengths (5 tracks in 73 minutes) the band manage to keep it together perfectly including varience in their playing but sticking to a sonic theme in each piece. I especially like the 3rd and 4th tracks crashing silver ghost phallus and Diamond bullets.

Yellow Swans-Dusk CS
Just a little live cassette with four tracks on it. I like the last track 'Swan Luv' the most. The tape is painted bright yellow and has the tracks printed on it. For some reason the music invokes old films of car factory robots in the 80s.

Yellow Swans-Dosed CS
Fairly similar to the above. More live stuff though it's not quite as interesting.

Burning Star Core-Recycled Music CS
Sounds like some kind of outtake from 'A Brightre Summer Day'. Very clattery with odd bits of computer noise and distorted violin thrown in. The recycled cassette in question used to have James Brown on it, though the tape itself is just a standard recorable and not a re-dubbed commercial tape.

but also got Scout Niblett's new cd which touches me deep down inside...where I am soft...like a woman.

I'm waiting on the new Ryan Adams album, which may be good or may be shite - he annoys the hell out of me, but every now and then pulls something out of the bag which makes you forget all the rubbish he's done.

Dosh - Pure Trash
Anticon suprise again. Real nice Four Tet / Prefuse 73 & The books style electronica. (folktronica, apparently. I swear genres get sillier all the time.) Not a rapper in sight. + vinyl for the win.

Ewigkeit - Radio Ixtlan

I cannot really sum up quite how absolutely motherfuckingly awesome this album is, both musically and conceptually. It's at the level of philosophical pretention where it has an essay on it's meaning in the back and a recommended reading list (Including a book by David Icke) to try and help you understand it a bit more.

Musically, no-one else in the world is doing shit like this. At all. There is death metal somewhere in there, there is ambient trance, there is folk, there are black metal and thrash, there is space rock and prog, there is breakcore, there are brief surges of cybergrind, there are nature noises, there are acoustic passages, hearbeats, at least four vocalists...

It is, in short, one of the best albums ever.

I don't buy music that often.  Last album I bought was I think We Are Being Observed by Giant Haystacks, which I like enough.  The last album I downloaded (because I couldn't find it anywhere besides eBay) was Candy Apple Grey by Husker Du.  Which fucking OWNS.

Giant Haystacks are alright, but Wreck of Old '98 and Solanki did the whole Minutemen-woship thing so much better.

I recently picked up the following albums:

The Black Keys - Thickfreakness

This is a pretty decent album if you like really raw blues rock.  The Black Keys rock hard, and their music is all pretty catchy...and yeah, retro, but OLD SCHOOL retro.  Not as tight as Rubber Factory, but still a good album.

Blonde Redhead - Fake Can Be Just As Good

Discord alt-rock.  I enjoy the album, most of my friends don't.

Tin Tin - Self-titled

These guys are a local prog-folk act in the boulder-denver area.  They're decent, and I picked up the album for next to nothing, so whatever.

Today my goal is to go pick up a copy of Arcade Fire - Funeral.  I am going to force myself to like this album, kinda like I had to force myself to like oral sex (giving, not receiving).

DYS - Wolf Pack
Old, old school straight edge. And awesome.

I also grabbed a Reagan SS 7" and their split with John Brown's Army, all for £10. Not a bad haul.

I don't know, I never considered it a Minutemen-worship thing.  Just because, well, I don't listen to the Minutemen much anyway.  I buy anything that looks halfway interesting.

Well, this was a download rather than a buy, but I'm hell of excited about it, so I'm putting it here anyway:

Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

For serious, get this when it comes out.  It's a bit cheerier than Michigan, but just as good.  And the track names are ridiculous.

Their whole discography for teh win!
I think I have everything anyway. U/U vol 1&2, The Fall of Math, Retreat! Retreat! and Hole should be the lot, it's not like they have millions of releases.

On Saturday, I got System of a Down's Mesmerize and Circa Survive's Juturna.

Circa Survive is the first band since At The Drive-In that I've bought their CD based purely on the singer's voice. I seem to have a thing for screaming boys. ;)

Ooo, I need that! Is it really as good as I'm hoping? Not sure I'll be able to afford it though, The Now Denial are playing tonight and I've heard rumours of an amazing distro they have with them so I have a feeling my record budget for a while might be getting blown there.
