Got the new Mindless Self Indulgence when I saw them in concert a few weeks back. I think they're starting to learn how to play their instruments! It's a pretty good album, but short, and I would prefer more studio versions of some AOA songs instead of just Two Hookers.

Also, Gigantic Brain - The Invasion Discography. Just some crazy obscure scifi based grindcore.

Pssh, buying records months/years after they've come out just ensures you don't get caught up in meaningless fads!

Or you can just save yourself from listening to crap and not buy anything by The Decemberists. I like that idea.

Hmm, I grew quite fond of the album on the first listen. Some of the songs are a bit corny, but damn they're good!

I sincerely suggest you give them another listen.

It's been so long since I've bought music I'm going to die from music-buying-starvation or something.
I think the last album I bought was...possible The Shins but it was so long ago I cannot remember!
I need to buy music soon, I think my next album may be another Beulah album.

The last three albums I bought were:

Gift by Curve
Plastic Fang by The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
Wreckage by Overseer

Gift is a good album for fans of post-'95 Curve, and Wreckage is easily the most discombobulated and artistically diverse techno record I've ever heard (but I mean that in a good way). Plastic Fang is interesting...but sort of reperitive as well, hence it was a bit more disappointing than the aforementioned albums.

Cash is nice.  Like that four times a year GST cheque we get here in Canada.  Thusly, I purchased the new Haujobb album, Vetical Mixes.  It's excellent.  Two new songs(Mind Crush & Perpetual Motion), three mixes of tracks from Vertical Theory by Haujobb themselves and eight other mixes of V.T. tracks by This Morn Omina, Seabound, HECQ, Asche, Backlash, Shok, Glis, and Iszoloscope.  Insanely good remix album.

I went on holiday, which was nice. I checked out the HMV inside the duty-free airport bit, and they were totally selling some CDs for £4.20. That was fucking awesome.
I picked up:

The Roots - Things fall apart (One of the best Hip-Hop albums ever. Fuck the haters.)
Wu-Tang Clan - Enter the 36 Chambers (So, so, so good. A stone cold classic. Some fool lost my copy of it a while back, and I figured I could afford to replace it at £4.20)
Otis Redding - The Definitive Collection
Charles Mingus - Mingus Ah Um
Kraftwerk - Radio-activity

The woman gave me a funny look when I brought that selection up. Made my goddamn holiday though.

A week or so ago I got Iron and Wine's Woman King, and I do realise that it's not that new, but I'm tellin' you anyways.

This is a good thing, for I rarely buy CDs. My family has most everything I listen to already.

Pack of LP's from Troubleman Unlimited
Hair Police-Constantly Terrified
White Rock-Tarpit
Dead Machines-Futures 10"
Growing-Dry Drunk on Women 7" re-issue

I like the new hair police quite a bit, the more extended noise style on this one suits them. I've not really formed opinions on the White Rock or Dead Machines yet. The Growing 7" is nice but you can really tell it's their first recording.  They try using vocals on the first side even though their music is the sort that should never have them. The second side seems barely there and to be just a few keyboard blips.

I got myself three import CDs from NZ, none of which will fit onto my CD rack.

V/A-The Tone of the Universe=The Tone of The Earth 2CD
-Great drone comp with an all star cast commissioned to celebrate the discovery of a distant galaxy resonating a steady B flat drone.

Birchville Cat Motel-Chi Vampires CD
-Brilliant and varied 'too quite for noise but too noisy for ambient' drone soundscapes. The title track is especially good. Piano and ambient sounds transform a drone metal riff so it becomes a journey over the ocean rather than a journey to the abyss.

Neal Campbelle/Cambelle Kneale-Collab
-Doesn't seem as immedietly good as the other two but it has its moments.

My favourite line from that's gotta be "punk rock, was my first, she left me a scar, so I have her still!" Popular Mechanics for Lovers is also a terrific song.

My latest album are:

The Smashing Pumpins - Siamese Dream
Autolux - Future Perfect.

Lost Highway soundtrack
N.E.R.D. - In Search Of...
Kelis - Tasty
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it In People

I hear the latter takes a few listens before it grows on you. Let's hope, because it's doing nothing for me right now. (I bought it purely on Jeff's recommendation in his music column, so there ya go.) The other three are pretty damn good.

This album has been on my 'to buy' list for years, but never quite made it. Got it last week when I saw it for sale for A$15.

. . .

I'm converting all of the good 'burned & illegal' CD's in my collection to 'bought and legal'. This was my latest in that series.

Ha, both of these quotes sound like me.  Although I think my next purchase is going to be McLusky Do Dallas because I'm suddenly obsessed with "Alan Is a Cowboy Killer".

Also got Postal Service (Give Up), re-purchased Dropkick Murphys' "Blackout", and Motion City Soundtrack's "Commit This To Memory" (looking forward to seeing them at warped)

Awesome!  I'm getting birthday'd on Wednesday and I've dropped hints to several people that it would be REALLY NICE if I had another Beulah album.  ;)

Couldn't find Beulah at the local record place, so I bought Nick Drake's Bryter Layter.  It's nice too.
