A trip to the record store yesterday.  It was certainly fruitful.

Purchases
The Good Life-Novena on a Nocturne.  I've been looking for this one for aaaages, and I'd just never gotten around to buying it online.  I was so excited when I found it!  It is excellent.[/b]
Regina Spektor-Mary Ann Meets the Gravediggers & Other Short Stories by Regina Spektor.  This one was a bit more than I usually like to spend on CD's, but her beautiful voice is worth it.
Notwist-Neon Gold.  Pretty good stuff.

This is weird, but I love the feeling of jewel cases when the shrink wrap first comes off.  I always take a second to feel it up before I open it and listen.

Um... I think it was Beck's "Sea Change". I'd been meaning to get that album, like, all year. And every time I went to the music store with money in hand, I'd find something else I'd like to buy instead. But finally, this last weekend, I forced myself to get it.

when i went to see them live, i almost got the shit kicked out of me because i wasn't there to see "against me!" or "the epoxies" and i was right up against the barrier. they need to start headlining shows instead of opening them.

Well, Bishop Allen's "February" EP finally arrived in my mailbox yesterday. I will be ordering "March" in a couple days as well. I'm so glad I like this band. It gives me something to look forward to EVERY MONTH this year. That is a win.

Also, I am going to have to order New Sense's EPs. Not only are they The Postal Service on happy pills, but they have two former members of Citizen King. Fucking Citizen King. Holy dear god yes.

Mogwai - Mr. Beast
John Scofield - Blue Matter
Steely Dan - Alive In America

I don't know why but I after the first two listens to Mr. Beast I am still somewhat underwhelmed by it. Maybe I should listen again.

edit: forget I said anything...can't stop listening to it now :P

HIGH FIVES!

I retract my high fives. I wanted to go to that show bad, such a good lineup.

As for my latest:
Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This To Memory (finally)
A Wilhelm Scream - Ruiner (don't let the name turn you off, this band's fantastic and very skilled)
Mos Def - The New Danger
Of Montreal - The Sunlandic Twins
Elliott Smith - Either/Or (finally no. 2)

now my eyes are set on getting:
The Lawrence Arms - Oh! Calcutta!
Les Savy Fav - The Cat and the Cobra
and of course completing my Mogwai collection

I'm not a big Against Me! fan either, but I've been listening to The Epoxies since before they were on Fat Wreck. In fact, Mitch Clem recommended them to me right on this meesage board a long, long time ago. *swoons*

Plus The Soviettes are one of those bands that I think I'd really enjoy live.

It's out now? I'm gonna have to be on the lookout for it.

I saw Zaireeka in jb on tuesday and bought that instead of a jumper. So now I'm cold, but I have an album that I won't listen to for a couple of weeks (until I can arrange something).

What an excellent batch of albums. Oh except Sonic Youth. That might be good for all I know, I've never listened to them.

My only recent purchase: Sha Sha by Ben Kweller. And it's bloody good too.

It's out, and it's good. Not as good as Yoshimi, but still good. Free Radicals is my personal favorite track from it.

Is Zaireeka worth it? I saw it for $50 today, and I could get it, but I don't know. Seems like a big hassle.

I officially need another CD case.  I could have bought one, but I would rather just keep these in their case and buy more CDs.

The Loon - Tapes 'n Tapes
Return to the Sea - Islands
Nine Times That Same Song - Love Is All
Best Party Ever - the boy least likely to
Everything All The Time - Band of Horses

Again in Tel Aviv:

John Zorn - Godard/Spillane
Erik Truffaz - Face-A-Face (A double CD live concert with both of his groups! AMAZING!)
Ulver - Perdition City
Rockfour - The Man Who Saw Everything (Israeli rock quartet)
Plastico - 951

The band members sold that last album album (which was produced by known artists from the israeli music scene) on the streets for its real value (20 Shekels) insted of selling it through stores which will cost around 60 shekels. That way all of the money goes directly to the artist and nobody get fucked along the way. I thought it was cool and bought the album in from the girl who told me about it and another guy, both band members. Plus we had a nice chat.

Jean-Michel Jarre - Metamorphoses
Ashra - Correlations
Maria Bethania - Simply the Best
Caetano Veloso - S/T (1968)

Albums I bought today:

Mars Volta - Frances the Mute (about time I reduced the illegality)
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights (four years too late!)
Nick Cave - Nocturama (I now have every Cave studio album from 1997 onwards, not that anyone cares)
Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding

You're right. I liked it too much on the first listen for it to survive long.

But it's got some good songs on it.

And Babe, I'm On Fire would be awesome if he'd cut it down to like, five minutes.

Rock of Gibraltar was better live. I wish I'd bought The Good Son instead. At least then I'd have got The Ship Song. I'm going to spend Easter money on that.

What do I know really, I have only heard No More Shall We Part and forth, but it just strikes me as a weak album. But yes Rock of Gibraltar is a good song :)

Which reminds that I desperately need more Nick Cave, lucky then that I am going to a sell/buy/exchange shop tomorrow.
