The Last Show You Saw

Well...
it was meant to be a gig double whammy sort of affair last night - two bands, both featuring assholes as their frontmen who I really wanted to wind up, playing different venues. So, we went to the first one, to see Scarlet Soho (I took the moral highground and warned them of my illness so as not to pass it on and infect them), and waited, and waited a bit more, watched them set up the stage, then watched them unset the stage and load up their van.

Apparently, the sound engineer had fallen asleep.

While I don't blame him, that's pretty shoddy. SS couldn't play as they were first on the bill and it meant that if they hadn't, the other bands couldn't.

So, we left the venue and headed onto band mark II on the other side of town, to discover a bald guy with an accordian singing/screaming sea shanties in place of where Miss Black America should be. The venue staff didn't really care that the main band hadn't turned up, it turns out that they'd got  stuck in traffic after an accident on the M25...

I can't help but feel that I'm somehow responsible for jinxing those bands and their ability to play a proper gig in Brighton.
Oh well, fingers crossed for VHS or BETA tonight...

Aw man, TdV don't dress nearly as crazily as they used to! Where's the lace shirts, capes and bloodstained wedding veils at?

Just back from seeing Blackeye at my union's Rought Cuts night. Ahhh...two decent heavy bands in one term let alone one year, it's a shock.

Somewhere between early Opeth, Melodic Hardcore and a little hint of Black Metal. Great fun, my neck has been turned to liquid once again and I've got a few brusies from the pits. All good, specially for free.

Also picked up their EP because I'm a nice guy.

EDIT: Though I have to wonder about the mass of people that walked out when they started playing. Probably because they heard it was Metal and where upset when it didnt sound like Korn or Linkin Park.

That and random indie sceners who always turn up, even if they dont like the music. Still, one of them thought it'd be be funny to dance around the edge of the pit like a twat and promotly got Yakuza'd in the face my one of my mates.

And another thing, for having the smallest genre fan-base, MFKZT and Blackeye have had some of the biggest and loudest reactions for anyone at Rought Cuts and the most crowd action by far.

Just saw VHS or Beta at the Engine Rooms (possibly Brighton's diviest venue) which was surprosingly good - all the indie/goth/electro fashionistas were out in force, but apart from that it was ace. Even though the guitairist spilt his drink over me, but he apologise, which made me forgive him.
Except I'm still ill and really shouldn't be going out AT ALL as now I feel like death, but hey, the band was worth it.

Marauder:
Attended a show by Projet Orange (they opened for the Tea Party...didn't stick around for them).  At the Canadian Tulip Festival, not bad.
