Fun Stuff > BAND
talk about a band you wish more people have heard of here.

Although it's not really the sound that's really popular in the indie scene right now, I've been really digging the Black Keys as of late. Old-school blues rock done right. The band aren't top quality musicians and the guitarist can't really solo to save his life, but hell if they can't write really catchy riffs, plus there's really not much else in the scene right now that sounds quite like them. If you're not turned off right now, it'd be worth picking up their newest CD, Rubber Factory. It's pretty damned tight.
And the drummer rocks, but looks like Napoleon Dynamite with a bowl cut.
Kai:
I'm going to plug the Residents for a third time until somebody actually listens to them.
La Creme:
If you're looking for good classic Bluesy Rock, get some stuff by the little-known but much awesomed Butterfield Blues Band. The singer isn't great, but there really isn't such thing as a good white blues singer. Maybe Roy Buchanan... Anyways, get "East West" by Butterfield. The title-track (last on the album) is one of my favorite blues jams ever.
Also, another band I wish more people had heard of (I'm sure a good portion of the UK peeps will know of) is Lemon Jelly. They make these happy little trance-ish breakbeats. They are soundtracks for life. Get the second album, "Lost Horizons" for approcimately an hour of continuous mixer-mastery, cute guitar licks, and astronauts talking in the background.

Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys is pretty damned good for a white blues singer.
Kai:
Captain Beefheart would make a good Blues singer... if He actually played Blues.
