Tiger is COOL

it's not a service pack, it's a new OS.

it's at least like going from windows 95 to 98.  also, you're not thinking of all the applications packaged with the OS in OSX.  it's like an upgrade to both Windows and a bunch of decent productivity and creativity apps at once.

It does suck that they make you pay but it is more than a service pack.  10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4 are pretty decent sized upgrades, kinda like windows 95, 98, me.  The 10.x.1, 10.x.2, etc are service packs.    Ok so apple does the os updates more regularly than microsoft but they are the same thing really.  There still are things like security updates for the older os x versions.

Windows service packs don't add any features.  The 10.x updates give you things like expose, spotlight, dashboard, fast user switching, automator etc.  How much did microsoft make you pay to downgrade your system from windows 98 to windows ME?  I would love it if they where free but they arn't and neither is windows.

Why is full screen a "pro" feature anyway?  At least on the Mac version, it seems stupid.

So don't use quicktime:

Mplayer for OS X
or
VLC
