Why is full screen a "pro" feature anyway?  At least on the Mac version, it seems stupid.

So don't use quicktime:

Mplayer for OS X
or
VLC

VLC is also Kinda broken too :(
switching from full to windowed screen sometimes hangs up the app. Luckily apple added a handy new 'reopen' button to the error reporting popup so you can just get the program back after it closes. You can get around this problem by using the VLC dashboard widget to order VLC in and out of fullscreen.
Also Aquisition is messed up a lot. It wasnt working on 10.3.9 due to a Java mess up, and then it was working, and now with Tiger it seems to be the same error. Too bad.

By the by.  Go to your nearest Apple store and flash your student ID.  You can get Tiger for a mere $65. Hope it helps!

--- Quote from: est ---it's at least like going from windows 95 to 98. also, you're not thinking of all the applications packaged with the OS in OSX. it's like an upgrade to both Windows and a bunch of decent productivity and creativity apps at once.

...so it's like just about any linux distro except for the mac? I'm not an apple user, the only time I've ever used an apple computer was while editing a movie me and a couple people made(on one of the other people's computers, it was a mac) and with an old Macintosh IIsi we own.

Theres absolutely no comparison between an old IIsi and a new mac running OSX.  (I miss my IIsi, btw) :P

OSX is actually based off of one of the BSDs, so yeah, its like Linux, but with much better hardware support and cooler app and interface :D

The main benefit over linux is the ease of use and support with hardware.  You can easily swap out usb and firewire devices, mice, gaming devices, bluetooth, wifi.

Having been a PC/Win32/Linux admin for so many years, I'm finding OSX to be my preferred OS for most things.  Its sort of like what Linux should be.

What is going on?
