What's your worst musical tragedy?

I'm a notorious stickler for protecting my collection. Whenever a new CD arrives I burn a copy of that pretty quick and take it around with me instead of the original. I've taped a lot of my LPs too, though I've fallen behind a bit on that.
Worst thing that ever happend to me was a roommate spilt beer on a new a brand new Fire Show CD whilst I was away. I made him replace it though, he tried to get out of it by saying the disk was still playable but it was covered in gunk and the artwork was ruined. Plus Fire Show are an all time fave of mine so I was pretty mad with him about it.

Not *my* tragedy, per se, but a tragedy that occured to me:
When I was first getting into music in general, I was really into Metallica (this was a bit after the Black Album came out, though I prefered their older stuff). My aunt asked my mom what kind of music I liked, so she could get me a Christmas present. When my mom said Metallica, my aunt was like, "Aren't they devil worshippers that tell kids to kill their families?" For Christmas, my aunt gave me a Paula Abdul cassette. :(
Within a week, said Paula Abdul album had been exchanged for Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger. Within a month, my uncle asked if I could tape the Paula Abdul album for him, which forced my mom to borrow the album from a coworker. :D
Of course, by the time my cousin was old enough to get into music, my aunt had no problem buying him Korn and Slipknot albums.

A few summers ago, I had a ticket to what turned out to be the last Elliott Smith show in New York, at Northsix (which is a pretty small club)
On the way to work that day, I sprained my ankle REALLY really badly and was told by my doctor that I was not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES to go to the concert, since standing for that long would mean risking (more) serious tissue damage.
That sucked.
