jam bands make me happy

--- Quote from: La Creme ---Noise rock is bad.

There are those of us who disagree and can disagree convincingly.
a pack of wolves:
Just to be geeky for a second, noise rock is a term used for people like Unsane and not Wolf Eyes. Harsh, and not improvised at all, it's very close to hardcore and metal in sound. Wolf Eyes are generally referred to as noise in my experience which is a whole other kettle of fish. Some noise is improvised but a lot isn't, I have a friend who's spent close to a year working on some noise and it's very carefully structured.
I'm actually surprised someone would refer to Wolf Eyes and The Mars Volta as being related like that. Is their new album more interesting then? I might have to give it a listen, I'm pretty fond of Wolf Eyes but the few songs I heard from their first record were in a totally different realm.
If you want to use a pic from your computer as an avatar then host it somewhere like photobucket, that's what I did with mine since I needed to resize the original.
La Creme:
They're different sides of unrelenting noise rock. But is dislike them both. What they share is taht they attempt to cover their lack of musical talent by slamming on synthesizers and playing too loud for you to think about their music. Noise, like jam band music, is also a hell of a lot more fun for the people making it than those listening. I'd know. I make loud, squeky, high-pitched guitar thrash all the time. Usually my brother beats me up for it. And he is perfectly right to do so. It is annoyin as shit to listen to.
a pack of wolves:
Depends on your view. I've just been playing some Sickness, Wolf Eyes and Stalingrad's noise stuff and I enjoyed it, and I make no noise myself. And since it's late it was on quiet, so the volume wasn't preventing my enjoying the music. Actually, when I caught Wolf Eyes live it wasn't horrifically loud either, Lightning Bolt afterwards had more volume. I just enjoy brutal, abrasive music. Although actually Wolf Eyes aren't something I find all that Brutal. Very good though.
And like I said, Wolf Eyes aren't noise rock at all, that's the kind of stuff you'd have found on Amphetamine Reptile back in the day. You ever heard 'Scrape' by Unsane? That's noise rock.
Kai:
--- Quote from: La Creme ---Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains are up there as one of my favorite bands. It really ticks me that they only played 5 or so shows as that outfit before Les Claypool left to do more of his Les Claypooly nonsense. And Buckethead forget that he was in the band. And Brains... what the fuck is with Brains anyways...?
--- End quote ---
Buckethead probably forgets alot of things. Mostly his name and that he's wearing a bucket.
Also, I do believe the drummer's name is Brian, and they just switched around two letters, hence you get ZOMBIE FOOD.
