Revenge_Therapist:

--- Quote from: La Creme ---C'mon dad.. gimme the car tonight. C'mon dad, gimme the car. I've got this girl... I wanna (preeeowww). C'mon dad... gimme the car.

Are there any available live versions of that song? My mom has a bootleg but the quality sucks...

God is that song good.
--- End quote ---

Get the album Viva Wisconsin. There's a live version on there. Also Add it Up has one too.

boeuf:
Unfortunetaly, the only album I have by them is their best of...
but I suppose thats good enough.

Man, the song Gone Daddy Gone is so fucking wicked...
the whole thing with the xylophone (i dont know if thats the right name for a wooden one.) is fantastic.

And the song Black Girls is so much fun, I wanted to request it when I was at a goth night thing at a bar here., though they only had Blister in the Sun, which is good enough.

"You got the mother and her kid
you got the guy and his date.
We all get mad,
we all get late.
Looks like somebody forgot about us,
standing on the corner, waiting for a bus.

Hey mister driver man,
don't be slow.
Cause I got somewhere I gotta go.
Hey mister driver man,
drive that thing fast.
My precious time keeps slipping past."

I know, I have done that with other bands.
But right now I totally can't remember which ones.
I'm on a roll this morning.

a pack of wolves:
It took me about two or three years to get hold of '1980-1986' after first hearing (and playing to death) 'Dicks Hate The Police' by the Dicks. A lot of wasted time, since that's an amazing album. However, a similar amount of time elapsed between hearing 'You Don't Always Want What You Get' by The Flaming Stars and picking up the album it's from, and that was a disappointment. It's far and away the best song on there, the others not really being bad but not actually all that good or even memorable.

As for the Violent Femmes; a big yes, although I too only own their best of which I found second-hand for about 70p. I missed seeing them last December too, we had to leave All Tomorrow's Parties early on the third day and they were playing that night.

marenpoop:
love love love them. yeah, get their ST, my fav song on there is "please do not go"

betteroffdead:
oh god i LOVE violent femmes! i have their self-titled, also, and it's just so awesome. i actually did the exact same thing as you. i loved "blister in the sun" but never heard their other stuff. it wasn't until a heard a friend rave about them that i decided to check out their other songs, and of course fell in love. they have such an interesting sound. i really like what their guitar style. "please do not go", "add it up", and "prove my love" are some of my favourites
