Music Used To Calm People Down

<< < (8/10) > >>

La Creme:
The three greatest songs to fall asleep to:

Sleep The Clock Around by Belle and Sebastion

1983... A Merman I Should Turn To Be by Jimi Hendrix

The Gospel by The Dandy Warhols

MilkmanDan:

I would like to draw your attention to this; if you take Dan's advice, only chill to these albums. If you try to sleep to any of AT's other work, you're going to wind up having nightmares where midgets chase you through the spaceship from Alien and attempt to clobber you with billy clubs.

Yeah, no doubt. Same with Autechre. Amber is ambient awesome, but you'd probobly just cry if you tried to sleep to Gantz Graf. I've now got a mental image of someone trying to get to sleep to Universal Indicator, and it's amusing. Red Indicator + sleep deprevation  has got to be getting close to hell. I dread to think what Richard D James was on when he decided Acid Techno was a good idea.

In other news, add Blockhead to my earlier selection. Insomniac Olympics is (fairly ironically) perfect to sleep to.

IronOxide:
I greatly enjoy going o sleep to Iron and Wine, it's kind of like a sedative for me. I also sleep to Jack Johnson. Luckily, they come right after each other on my shuffle, so that's generally the plan of attack.

On some days The Shins can be calming in a great way as well, as I cannot understand their lyrics whatsoever most of the time, so I do not feel as if I am ripping off the music by not listening for the words.

Some other random good sleepin' songs:
Everythng's Alright - Jesus Christ Superstar
Hey Jude - The Beatles
Blue - The Cowboy Bebop Soundtrack
Is it Real? - The Cowboy Bebop Soundtrack (As well)

Good night!

rawrXskittles:
I got around to listening to more Fall Out Boy today, a lot of the songs are great and sleepy-making a little.

Bobby I:

--- Quote from: ebullientsoul ---as for my picks, just about everything by American Football.

Yeah, like he said.  Alternatively, a lot of melodic death metal albums have a song or two that are instrumental with acoustic (or clean) guitars that I find really relaxing.  I think somebody already mentioned Pallar-Anders Visa, Timeless and Acoustic Medley are two more by In Flames, and then Iced Earth, Arch Enemy, Opeth and Suidakra all have some that I like a lot.
