Google Talk
Mnementh:
Google has an IM service now. You use your gmail address as your screenname.
Google has their own windows client, and you can use it with the other clients listed there for other platforms. Simply click to get setup instructions.
Aren't the robowebs fun!
nihilist:
The client is pretty ass, and the lack of features is also pretty ass. And can people stop using the goddamn acronym VoIP all the time? Voice over networks has been used for a long time, especially by gamers. Stop acting like it's something hugely new. Fuckers.
neomang5:
MODFIGHT!
*ahem*
I loves the google, but theyre im client is bad. Really bad.
For now i'll stick with aim, and the occasional irc.
Mnementh:
I'm using it through GAIM at work and through Adium at home. It's simply Jabber.
Nih: Voice over networks has been around a long time, but now it's the Next Big Thing in telephoney, and it's finally commercially viable as a service. Additionally, it's not something that was accessable to a lot of people, for the general population, it is something new.
That's why people talk about it.
nihilist:
I'm using it from work via Trillian. Whee. It's just Jabber. The Google client is a piece of ass, though. My real complaint was that far too many people have their tongues right up Google's ass, licking for that next piece of corn. The client doesn't compete because it is technically not worthy. I've had far too many people go off the deep end because Google cannot, IS NOT, allowed to do any wrong.
Pfft.
I remember using Roger Wilco five or six years ago. Quality was pretty decent at that time. I don't know, it's not a huge leap. Now that it has an acronym, whoop-d-whoop. VoIP has been around for a long time... I'll start doing my whoops when proper streaming video becomes available. Fuck digital cable, fuck satellite; I want to watch new shit the second it becomes available, whenver I want to. Currently, just not possible.
Finally, neomang5, I'm not a mod, I'm an administrator. Oh, and I'm a God. So I won already.
