DISCLAIMER: My intention here is not to bag out other peoples taste in musics - merely to share with you a peculiarity of my profession that has lead to me dispising a particular artist.

I work in the AV industry, specifically in integration as a programmer (whoop de doo). Anyhoo we do a fair few shows to get the public interested in what we do and we also have a fairly impressive showroom so I get to play with a lot of new neat stuff on a regular basis, however all of this has a big draw back.

In order to demonstrate the sound quality of our systems we use music DVD's that have been recorded in 5.1ch surround. These discs have become more common recently, however their used to be only a few that were suitable to be played for audiences of various tastes, therefore the de facto standard has become the Eagles - When Hell Freezes Over. We do demonstrations all day long.

I have heard the damn thing that many times that my stomache clenches whenever I hear the opening chords of desperado, hotel california et al.

Whole Lotta Love by Led Zepplin.

Growing up, the only station I could ever get in clearly in my room was 97 rock, this awful classic rock station in Buffalo that mostly played crappy southern fried rock, zepplin and the who, which wasn't bad but got really boring really fast.

That song was in heavy rotation at one of the worst jobs I ever had.

I thank god that it died off quickly, but every once in a while I'll hear a snatch of something that brings back the memory.

My work has been playing this one Paula Abdul song over and over again. I can't remember the name, but she does a "rap" in the middle of it.

It didn't help when my manager complimented the girl who chose the station on her taste in music.

Also, "100 Degrees" by Shout Out Louds. It's a great song, but it's easy to get sick of something when you just lay there with it on repeat.

Sounds like "Cold Hearted". And I'd probably compliment the girl's music taste, too, if only because Abdul's worst song would still be better than the crap on the modern rock stations.

I would die a happy man if I never again heard "If I Had a Million Dollars" by the Barenaked Ladies, who I honestly do believe are the worst band in the history of music.

(I watch it too! although Fuse kinda takes the cake for "Shitty late night music televison", simply because they tote themselves as the original, "indie" network when they play the exact same damn songs as MTV with less rap)

ZOMG! ANOTHER BUFFALO PERSON! But yea, that station is good at times, but they seriously overplay some stuff eh.

All day long...either the lame local mainstream station (lame even as mainstream stations go...just the same 5 songs in rotation all day long) or the "piano versions of questionably popular Andrew LLoyd Weber (hack) tunes" cd.

anyway, for me it would probably be By The Way by RHCP. I worked at ASDA for a good few months, after the store closed. When the public had all left they put ASDA FM on the tannoy, and this was one of TWO songs which would be played on repeat, between adverts, over and over. For 6 hours.

I've actively wished for Bryan Adams' death a couple of times.

There is a story as to why I hate the song "Freshmen" but the fact that I hate the song is all you need to know.

I feel your pain. My girlfriend used to go on holiday with her parents to the same place every year and her Dad played the same set of Mix tapes every year for ten years. I only went twice but that was enough.

Whenever we are listening to the radio in the car and anything of one of those tapes come on we shudder, especially April Sun in Cuba by Dragon.
