Hey guys guess what! (I am not going to wait for you all to guess, so I am just going to tell you)

I got my second set of lobe piercings done! Decided to start them off at a 14g, and I also finally put my 12g earrings back into the first holes (see previous post). Gonna work on getting those down to an 10g next semester, so I can start wearing hella awesome plugs.

i know you said him, but i was talking to a coworker tonight who also has his only color on his forearm, and we both agree the ooze is the worst part. we've both also had the same thing (and what dovey mentioned too) that part of the scab stuck to the sheet and stayed there when we were sleeping, so since the scab isn't on the tattoo anymore, the color will be affected. great. also my whole forearm basically is swollen and it hurts a lot more than all my line work (it hurt way less getting the actual tattoo) but that might be just the placement and since i'm right handed.

My cousin recently got this badboy.

4 and a half hours of work, and i'm really impressed with the guy's work even if it is a bad photo of it.
I'm going to see the same guy when I get mine.

With colour tattoos, I have to use really mild shower gel anyway, it's actually prescription, but johnson's baby shower gel to keep it clean & prep H to help it heal, I kept mine wrapped longer than I have done with Black & White ones, but that was mostly to stop the ink getting on my clothes. They have all healed beautifully. (I have 6 fairly large coloured ones covering 9 years.)

I got my color one at night so i just kept it bandaged 'til the next morning, when I washed it and stuff.  There wasn't really any dripping/oozing/etc.  My black ink one, however, seemed to ooze a lot more over the few hours after I got it, to the point where it was kind of dripping down my leg.  I don't particularly remember any actually pain once I was out of the shop for either of them however.

It maybe has something to do with the surface area of the wound itself, with the ooze. My half sleeve is only line work so that didn't ooze at all (I mean, technically it did but the surface area is small enough where I wouldn't notice) but this new one is about three inches wide and two inches tall or so. The ooze itself is just a scab that hasn't dried out, basically. Medically, it's exudate.

Thoughts on (inner) wrist tattoos? I'm thinking of getting my wrists done after xmas, but I'm not sure how comfortable I am with the visibility of the work. Good idea/bad idea?

Ok...so I got the ocean jasper and blue tiger eye. They sent me 12g in the ocean jasper, so I have to send those back, and the flare on the blue tiger eye is too big to go through the hole in my ear. Great. Any tips on that or are they just not going to work for me?

You can just like slowly put more stuff in the holes you already have, like double up on earring pairs and stuff. That's what I did when I was first stretching mine. That or just like giv'r and shove them in. I don't recommend that, though. Hurts like hell.

The ocean jasper fit! The flares are smaller than those on the blue tiger eye, so I'm just going to wear those and if I decide to stretch my ears a tiny bit, I've got the tiger eye for later.

I'm taking the hooks used in my suspension to my piercers today to get them autoclaved and I'm trying to decide what to do with them.  I was considering using them last halloween to make a hellraiser Pumpkin, but laziness took over and I opted out of that. I'm kind of thinking of something a little more permanent. It was a fairly big moment for me, but I'm clueless as to what to do with them and I need ideas!

So this is gonna be a bit gross. You're forewarned.

I got my second set of lobe piercings done about six weeks ago. I was playing with one of them today and noticed that it was 'sticking' a bit. So I wiggled it around (probably a big mistake) a bit until it was loose, and then left it alone. Fast forward three hours.

My entire lobe is now red, swollen, and painful. I start to clean around the piercing, and then realized that there might be something trapped inside the actual piercing itself (it's happened to me before, with a very irritating piece of hair). So I removed the jewelry and begin cleaning the piercing site. As soon as I put pressure on the lobe, it bursts. Like, literally bursts. There was pus and blood all over the wall/mirror I had been standing in front of. Funny thing is, the area immediately begins to feel better. So I just clean the rest of the area out as best as I can (using plain soap and water, no alcohol-based cleaners for me), and pop the earring back in.

I'm pretty sure it's an abscess, so I'm gonna continue doing hot compresses on it until I fall asleep (it's 2:11, but I'm wide awake now), and then get it checked out at the infirmary tomorrow morning.

Has anyone here ever encountered a problem like this before?

Yeah when I had my ear cartilage done the first time (got it done with a gun, silly child) one of them swelled up real bad for a few days, I was playing with it then it burst and it was pretty disgusting. I wouldn't even say to go to the infirmary (are you on a ship?), just clean it and keep an eye on it for a few days.

Hah, no I'm at college. I work at the infirmary though. I guess if it doesn't ease up by the time I have my next shift (Thursday night into Friday morning), then I'll have my co-workers look at it.

It's funny because I had my first lobe piercings done with a gun, and had no problems whatsoever. These ones I got done with needles, and was extolling the virtues of needle-piercing to my family, so of course this one would get infected.

I had a similar thing when I was tapering my ear. The tape must have caught the inside of the lobe and cut it slightly. Fast forward twelve hours to work when I notice my ear is swollen. I take the taper out and KABLOOEY, puss everywhere. Felt goood.

Also: What way would you guys get arm tattoos round? Do you have it facing you or facing away from you? I ask because I'm getting a variation of this on April 6th, and I want it with the arrow tip at my wrist (so the tattoo itself is facing me).

The happy way ):

Depends, I mean I think the only consideration is do you want to show it off lots? (pointing up your arm) or do you want it to be more personal (pointing down, so it looks the right way up when you look at it).

I would get it with the arrow pointing towards my elbow but each to their own. If it's meant to be something that you want to be able to read whenever you like then do it your way. When I get my sleeves it will all be done facing downwards so it's upside down when I look at it. This doesn't make it less personal, it's just an aesthetic choice.

I'd get it outer arm with the arrow pointing up personally, but like Jimmy said, it has to do with aesthetics more than anything. It would just bother the hell out of me if it was pointing towards my elbow.

I too would personally like it pointing up, not only for aesthetics, but also because I'd get tired of twisting my arm up to let people read it. It's really up to you, but no matter which direction, it's still personal either way because it's on your body.

I'm currently thinking about getting a tattoo, but can't make my mind up.

I was born in Botswana (the country just above South Africa) and think it would be pretty nice to get a tattoo of this, the outline of the country filled in with the flag. However, I have doubts that it might just look like a really weird blob that would look strange. Anyone know of anything similar, or if it would work/not work?

Definitely better than the Jersey tattoos I've seen, but I'm not sure about light blue ink - it doesn't seem to be very popular in tattoos and I can't help but wonder if there's a reason for that.

It's in part due to fading. Light blue fades rather easily compared to say, black or dark red. This is also why green, orange and yellow tattoos often look kind of washed out-- some colors are just more vulnerable to fading than others.

I'm not going to discuss this via the internet because it would be a stupid discussion, but I'm not a fist pumping guido.  I love NJ; it is and will always be my home, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.  The outline of the state has an interesting shape (beats anywhere in the midwest) and I think it would like cool on my body.  It'd be something I'd love 50 years down the road too.
