I just came back to my computer after a quick toilet break to be informed that my Last.fm profile has been scarred forever because it thinks Billy Joel is like the Cure.

I think that the trick is to keep to more obscure artists. It will tell you almost anyone is like the Beatles.

This is not as bad as the time I accidentally left mine playing Zombina & The Skeletones all night.

Last FM playing? I thought it just records what you play.

there's a radio feature, too.  up in the top right corner of your userpage, it should say "Start Radio".  you have to download the player, though, and it's hell over slow connections (like this one at my school).

If you accidentally play the same song over 100 times in a row when you don't even really like the song (which has happened to me) and it totally fucks up your profile, you can delete it. Whole artists too. You just hit 'profile editor'. Problem solved.

Wait, what's wrong with Zombina and the Skeletons?

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

Nothing, except for months anyone looking at my Last.fm profile would have thought I liked them more than Bathory.

Actually, that thing was a real boon to me - in that it was an incentive to finally get rid of all the shitty music that I used to listen to off of my hard drive so that it wouldn't come up on a random play all and tarnish my profile with Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit. more hard drive space for the win!

I usually don't even use the LastFM player. I just whip out my iTunes and my profile will show off my obscenely large Led Zeppelin collection.
