Playing Bass guitar, any tips?

(1/3) > >>

dessa:
I'm learning how to play bass guitar properly, compared to how i play it now (really crappy), any tips on how to get better quicker (other then playing every single spare moment, which i nearly do now)

dessa:
well before i started learning bass properly, i was experimenting with strumming and playing chords on a bass guitar, i don't know if anyone else has done this, but i couldn't get anything out of it, but im not particulary musically inclined, and as i said, im no good at playing bass anyway.

Thrillho:
Learn to play with a plectrum and fingers. Fingers, as a rule, takes more skill - there are of course exceptions.

And my number one tip - don't take any bullshit from guitarists who say bass is easier.

dessa:
well, "Playing" bass and Playing bass are two different things, most of the bassists i know don't do anything interesting, and normally just provide a bottom end for the rythym guitar, i want to do something different on it, and not just play the bottom end, but create something interesting in the song to listen to.

IronOxide:
The first thing to be learned is a walking bassline, I feel it's the bassist's E-Chord.
