Right cause 'Tess of the D'urbervilles' was SUCH a hardcore novel *shakes head at kids and their silly bandnames these day*

It actually is a pretty hardcore novel, if you've ever actually read it.

a pack of wolves:
I figured my list needed some descriptions and links.

Where I'm from, there aren't really a lot of local bands that don't suck. The closest to me that has good bands, is Regina that is two hours from me. And JohnnyC already mentioned their band, Sylvie.

edit: Sylvie is actually the Free Download of the Week this week on (Canadian) iTunes. Check it out.

There are so many good bands in New Zealand.
Let me see...
NUTE
They're an industrial band from Auckland. Fucking fantastic and really nice guys. Doing ok in the internation scene. I recommend "ROSB/Reflecting on Skin and Bone" and the entire Drone Function EP, availible from their website.
The Mercy Cage
NZ's premier goth/electronica band at the moment. They have a huge range and are very varied. Look great with lasers. I highly recommend the tracks "Prozac, God and The Atomic Bomb", "Hymn 01" and "Magnets Coil"
The Bleeders
Punk band that's recently signed to Universal. Really cool even if they do have a beef with a friend's band. Heavilly influenced by hardcore. I recommend "So Lonely" and "A Bleeding Heart".
The Warpath
I couldn't find their proper website so here's their myspace.
Awesome hardcore band. Friends with the guitarist. I recommend "Ruin You".

Like I said, NZ rocks.

Hey, you Missed Billy T.K. Junior. Really refreshing, laid back, for once not depressing rock, which is all too rare these days, and shows some optimism for once. And they put on a fantastic live show. They came to my school, which is among the most stupid and apathetic there is, and managed to get even the people here enthusiastic about the music.
