Emo?

Hmm, those Gantz samples are promising but it's hard to tell too much since they cut off just when the songs are kicking in. I'll keep an eye out for them though, I can think of a few people who might well have more in their soulseek folders. I kind of wish screamo bands wouldn't use anime as band names, it's damn near impossible to find info on the excellent Guyver-One for the same reason.

I've heard a couple of tracks by A Case of Grenada and I remember finding them solid but not wowing me. I think I know a guy who's got an album though, so I'll give them another try. I can think of many a great band where if you heard the wrong couple of songs then you'd come away thinking they sucked hard.

SpacemanSpiff:
I must say that I'm somewhat biased. The songs on their website for example seem pretty slow to me, though pretty interesting thanks to that Drive Like Jehu like impact.
But I've seen them live, and their songs were harder and faster and apart from that, the show was awesome anyway, so woo!

Also: JR Ewing ... what do you think of them?

a pack of wolves:
That depends. I saw them years back when they were touring A Perfect Drama and they really ripped it up. I rate that record and Calling In Dead highly, but yesterday I saw a video for one of their new songs. Crappy MTV indie was not a good move for them. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

SpacemanSpiff:
I haven't heard their new album yet, but I did read that they've become a lot softer.
But goddamn, the albums you mentioned and Ride Paranoia fucking rock. Oh my yes.

I have yet to see them live though. My guess is: Just because they've gone soft doesn't mean they don't kick ass live anymore. And I will have to find out whether I'm right or wrong.

a pack of wolves:
I very much hope you're right. What worries me is that I can't see boss tunes like A Case of Evacuation fitting in well with their new sound if they've written a whole album that sounds like that which could mean... them dropping them. But hopefully they aren't that retarded. I've no problem with bands getting softer (after all, Husker Du sounded better when they calmed down), but it was all too posed and weak and a far cry from those guys who looked like they might collapse at any moment from bringing too much rock that I remember.
