NOTE: SKIPPING THINGS THAT CAN BE ANSWERED WITH A SIMPLE YES OR NO
Heya. Got a couple of questions:
1) In regards to drawing skills, how much do you think is talent and how much do you think is practice?
2) Do you ever use your Cintiq for anything other than drawing, and if so what.
--- Luke
1) I don't know! I don't think I have any natural talent for drawing so in my case it is 100% practice.
2) Uh it is a monitor so...displaying things?
Jeph,
If they had a Comic-Con In Oregon would you come?
I tried talking my Brother into going to San Diego Comic-Con last year but no luck.
Maybe. Depends on the time of year.
Jeph,
Should we expect any huge bombshell changes in the characters' relationships or have things (aside from the weather and Dora's hair) remained pretty much at status quo ante?
I GUESS WE'LL SEE HUH
Naruto Or One Piece? They are manga/anime by the way....
Ew NEITHER
(secretly reads Naruto, is ashamed)
Jeph have you heared of Sunset Rubdown? You should hear of them.
Additionally, about how many times a week do you draw just for fun/practice?
Yes and I like one of their albums.
Doing the comic IS fun and practice! Outside of that, not as much as I should.
Today's comic made me think of another question.
If my friend published his own super fun board game and I wanted to send you one, where would I mail it? Do you have a fan mailbox big enough for a board game?
Maybe? If it didn't suck?
Hi Jeph,
You have appeared as a character in at least two webcomics (Overcompensating a few times, plus a Something Positive where you were a judge at a convention costume show). Do you have a favourite walk-on appearance?
Probably the waterboarding Overcompensating strip.
Why is Gina Riversmith facing the "camera" instead of Sven in the last panel of this latest strip, 1334? Same question about Sven, actually.
There is no "camera," they just have their heads turned because people turn their heads sometimes.
Hey Jeph, do you think you can legitimately complain about the creepiness of your fans now?
Nice Anders Loves Maria guest strip, by the way!
Yes! I mean, I DREW the friggin' cartoons having sex but you don't see ME poppin' boners or bein' all "HURRR OMG HOT!!11!" on a message board.
Have some class, peopleAnd thank you! It was fun to do.
Jeph-
I typically stick to the music forums on your site, and rarely venture into the comic discussion threads. When I do, I almost invariably see a new thread about why someone doesn't like a story line, or character or wishes you would get back to a different story line, etc. Is this ever discouraging or frustrating, or is it just one of those things you ultimately accept as a consequence of doing art and just move on?
Roughly a quarter of a million people read my comic every day. Nothing I do is going to please all of them, and some of them are going to whine about it on the forum. So I just ignore it. Over the years I have learned to trust myself with the story and not worry about what strangers on the internet think.
It helps that the complaints are usually pretty retarded.
Sorry to imitate an answered question, but your answer was so good that it got me generally curious.
Jeph, what is the sweetest thing?
Guitar + Amp + many, many decibels.
