The 1970's was great for Canadians, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and the Band.  The New Pornographers are also Canadian, despite having that whole british power pop thing going on.

It really shouldn't have taken so long for those amazing bands to come up though, everybody should love The Swarm. One of the all-time greatest straight edge outfitss, and Submission Hold are one of those rare bands who defy categorisation (except maybe as 'anarcho as shit').
