Big Day Out
GebStar:
Anyway so yesterday I went to the Sydney Big Day Out and had a blast of a time. I was just wondering what other Aussies and Kiwi's went to the BDO on this board, and what their best and most disappointing acts were.
My favourite act was The Subways, I knew the first time that I heard them on the radio that I was going to love them live and they did a really good show in sydney. The lead singer got off the stage, and crowd surfed and jumped on the speakers, when security decided to try and kick him out. Then his agent or promoter or something decided to fight the security guard so that he could finish the song. The guy got let go, he finished the song, kicked over his mike stand whilst the drummer trashed his drums. Best set I've seen in a long time.
Franz disappointed me, frankly because 1 I was too far out to see shit, and the set, apart from Michael was pretty boring and predicatable. Had fun dancing though.
This thread may be pretty limited. If it dies in the arse, we could turn it into a general festival thread, but only if it dies in the arse.
Rizzo:
I didn't go cause A) AFI pulled out and B) Iggy and The Stooges and The Mars Volta were playing at the same time.
Also it was too expensive.
almost thursday:
see, AFI pulling out would increase my desire to go. man, i wish i'd flown over there - beautiful city, wonderful country, amazing line-up. i'll definitely try and get to it in the next few years, man.
Mr Putter:
I was pretty impressed with Sleater-Kinney and The Go! Team - they were probably my favourites. Franz I thought were ok - at least they looked like they were enjoying themselves. Iggy was pretty good too - did anyone else think that Mike Watt (Stooges bassist) looked like Ray from Achewood when he was playing?
My biggest dissapointment was that I didn't get to see Soulwax or Mars Volta because of clashes
Dinnes:
I didn't go to the one in Sydney, but I've got my ticket for Adelaide next Friday. I can't wait, Youth Group and The Subways are the two acts that I want to see the most. Youth Group have a really amazing album, but I have never seen them live so it will be good to see how they perform.
