As for me, I just turned 20 back in November. I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (a.k.a. The Mormons) although most people wouldn't guess that to be the case because I have a foul mouth. I believe and all; I'm just a rebel at heart. I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, and just recently moved to a small, dinky town of 6000 people in Virginia to go to college. (Ever heard of Orson Scott Card? He's a professor at my school. I want to get into creative writing, so I figured he'd be a good teacher.)
Music tastes, I didn't really listen to anything until I got into high school, then a friend got me into Metallica. Funny thing is now, I can't even stand them. I could probably sing every song of theirs up to their self-titled album, too. My favorite band right now is Audioslave, partly because I grew up listening to both Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine because of my older brother. (Now that I think about it, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam have been ingrained into my subconscious mind from my brother blaring it during my formative years. I don't mind, though, because they're good bands in my opinion.) My playlist is set on random and went from Rammstein to Queen, so I guess that sums up my taste pretty well. I like what I like and tend to lean towards harder rock.
As for Mr. King, he doesn't strum. He hammers on and off with both hands, almost sounding like two guitars are playing at once. In fact, in a number of his songs, he plays a double necked guitar, one hand playing on each neck. It's really, really cool to watch. I would say what genre it is, but I honestly don't like to classify things because labeling eventually creates stereotypes and stereotypes are bad 99% of the time. That, and I figure there are a lot of music snobs here who'd correct me because I'd probably use the wrong term. It's definately NOT the kind of stuff I usually listen to, is all I can really say.
Can't blame you guys for jumping to conclusions. Until you see someone's got, like, 50 posts, we tend to be critical (we being people on the internet.) This is, like, the first new message board I've signed up to since 2003. Sort of didn't cross my mind that I'm a "noob" here.
