The thing about Smash Brothers is the setup is really one of the best for local multiplayer, because you don't have to split the screen 4 times and have people squinting at a quarter of the screen to play. That doesn't mean I wouldn't love online Smash Brothers, but really I won't be particularly upset if it doesn't make this version. If the next Smash Brothers game doesn't have online, then that'll be upsetting.

Aye, to be fair, I'm not sure online smash would be anywhere near as fun as many think it would be. Really, doing something ridiculous to win the day just isn't as fun when they aren't right next to you and ready to be heckled. The look on their face is also a very important part of the humiliation.

The new Burnout game is going to have an option for taking a picture of your face when you crash and transmitting it to your online opponents.

He's not. The Xbox Live Vision camera (and presumably the Playstation Eye) will take pictures of you immediately following each time you take out another player or are taken out by another player and will send the picture to the other person involved in the takedown, and you can save these pictures to your hard drive for later gloating.

Also, they revealed Samus's Final Smash on the site today and in doing so revealed that this is how Samus transforms into Zero Suit Samus. So in other words, Zero Suit Samus is not a seperate character but just a second form that activates after you use the Final Smash.

Probably.

Also, today's update:  :?

The game is going to have an actual plot and epic story mode?

I don't know if they'll get rid of Sheik or not. We know Zelda's in the game, but without seeing her moveset it's simply unclear.

And yeah, today's update is really cryptic. I'm not going to pretend to understand it.

I'm guessing it's the opening sequence. The whole "trophies coming to life" thing is similar to Melee's opening.. I also think that purple dude is the new boss, like a replacement for Master Hand or something.

Though, anyone's guess is as good as mine.

I would laugh until I bled out my eyes if Nintendo eventually announces that there will be no online play in this game because not everybody has fast enough Internet to justify it. That kind of argument worked 5 years ago with their limp, pathetic Gamecube online system, but it's pretty sad that in this day and age most if not all Wii games haven't had some kind of online component. Especially since the Wii is the casual gamer's system of choice and meant for multiple players.

I hope it doesn't have online play.

I hate people online. Assholes and jerks, all of them. Smash Bros. is a party game and sitting alone getting frustrated at lag and cheaters isn't a party.

You also don't have to play with jerks. I'd play only with real-life friends or online with my cousins across the country.

I'm not really unhappy about the very likely lack of online only because there hasn't been a single fighter that has had decent net code to date. I'm not sure why this is true, but I fully expect that to be sorted out by the next game in the series.

Great, another scrolling level (Rumble Falls). It actually looks interesting, but I'm gonna avoid playing this one with every fiber of my being.

Well, I may play it just once.

Actually, I heard a damn ingenious idea for a level that's a sequel to Poke Floats:

Tetris! Blocks fall from the sky and pile up, like you're battling in a giant Tetris game. Occasionally, lines are made and drop off. Chaos to try to both not fall off, not get smooshed, and kill your opponents!

A Meteos level would be pretty rad, but since Meteos isn't a Nintendo game, that's pretty unlikely.

How much money was involved in getting Link into Soul Calibur 2?
Or they could just make a agreement.  They get a Namco level, and Link can show up in SC4?
A lot of these companies have shown they're willing to let others use their material, if they like the way it's used.

Soul Calibur 4 isn't coming to Wii, so that wouldn't fly. No way would Nintendo let there IP wind up on Playstation 3.

It was just an example.
They are making Soul Calibur Legends, though, they could stick Link in there if they wanted.

The big reveal for today is a new mode. It's described as a 'action side-scroller', which sounds sort of like the Adventure mode from Melee, so I sort of wonder if this will be additional to that or replacing that. Although you do see the weird things that were in the cryptic update a week or so ago in the movie if you watch it.

The release date was confirmed as December 3rd a few weeks ago at E3, McTaggart. I thought I had pointed that out, but maybe I forgot.

But the question is, does this replace the old adventure mode, or is it in addition to? It doesn't say specifically.

It replaces the old adventure mode. It's just an evolution of that mode. I see no reason to include Melee's adventure mode with this one.

It'll still probably have Classic single player mode too, though. And maybe All-Star.

So apparently after you use Samus' final smash attack, her armor falls off because it was so powerful, giving you Zero Suit Samus. That's a cool way to transform.
And guys, Smashville, an Animal Crossing level? I don't know about you, but I want a live performance on Saturday at 8pm.

OK, the big reveal today is a new character. It's... a Pokemon trainer. And that's the character's name, too: Pokemon Trainer. Apparently he doesn't fight directly, but instead you can control Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard, and switch between them like you could with Zelda and Sheik (with the down+B move). They share a damage meter, but if you use one for too long it will fight less effectively. It's an interesting concept, but I honestly have no idea how well it'll work.

If everyone from Melee returns, it's already pushing 40, and you know that they're still keeping some secret. I'm guessing they're just going crazy and adding as many as they can fit.

I'm reasonably sure they'll only announce the non-secret lineup on the Dojo. (Hence why Metaknight and Snake haven't shown up despite having already been announced)

So...we're looking at a pretty massive roster.

There seems to be a fair bit of excitement about this game, so I thought it deserved its own topic.

Obviously the Solid Snake thing is a big deal, because it means some other non-Nintendo characters could be in the game as well.

So, what are you looking forward to/hoping for? Characters? Stages? Items? Controller functionality? Online play?

Personally, I really hope they don't do like they did with Melee and make half the characters nearly identical to the first half. I would certainly like for there to be as many characters as there were in Melee, but I hope they make an effort to make every character different and interesting.

I hope the Fire Emblem guys come back, because I love the series, and Pit and Meta Knight look like they could be really cool too.

I actually got a complete [well pretty complete] list of the characters that will appear. I got it from my friend who has "pipelines", The number is astronomic!

1. Wario
2. Waluigi
3. Bowser
4. Bowser Jr.
5. Pit
6. Samus
7. Dark Samus
8. King K Rool
9. DK
10. Luigi
11. Mario
12. Peach
13. Toad
14. Fox
15. Krystal [she's my favorite out of the Star Fox serious]
16. Captain Falcon
17 Black shadow [from F-Zero GX story line]
18. Ridley [from the Metriod serious]
19. Dixie Kong
20. Diddy Kong
21. Yoshi
22. Geno [yupp, from Mario RPG]
23. Mallow [from Mario RPG as well]
24. Dr Mario
25. Wolf
26. Falco
27. Samurai Goroh [from F-Zero]
28. Balloon Fighter
29. Poo [from Earthbound]
30. Jeff [from Earthbound]
31. Ness
32. Link
33. Mr Game and Watch
34. Ice Climbers
35. Pikacho
36. Marth
37 Vector [from Fire Emblem]
38. Lyn [from Fire Emblem]
39. Little Mac [from Punch Out]
40. Big Bull [from Punch Out]
41. Paula [from Earthbound]
42. Young Link
43. Zelda
44. Kirby

50. Ike [from Fire Emblem]
51. Skull Kid [from Zelda; Majora's Mask]
52. Ganondorf
53. Tingle [I wonder how he's gonna fight  :|]
54. Meta Knight
55. Mewtwo
56. Mike J. [from "I have no idea where"]
57. Sonic [yupp, Sega gives it's props]
58. Knuckles
59. Pokemon trainer [yeah... I'm not to thrilled about this one either  :|]
60. Solid Snake
61. Zero Suit Samus

and there's more to... but this is the ones I know for certain.
