Yeah, the secret to balding not looking terrible just simply to be aware of it and not resort to combovers. This is especially true since most guys look terrible with a buzzcut or shaved head.

I'm shaving every other day for the most part (if I'm in a big rush or out of town, I use disposables and cream), my beard grows slow enough that I can get away with it as long as I get it really clean looking when I shave. It also only grows along the jawline, goatee area, and the chin/neck for the most part, so it isn't like I'm shaving as much as someone that could grow a lumberjack beard would.

I'm using Wilkinson sword blades, which I've heard some people say are really dull normally, but I haven't had a problem. Maybe I just haven't had what else there is, but I don't cut my face with these, and they get the hair gone.

I got a straight razor for Christmas and that's all I've used since. Yes, the upkeep on it is more intensive than disposables, but I've found I kind of enjoy the ritual. Plus, now that I've gotten the hang of it, the parts of my beard that I do shave, i.e., my cheeks and neck, are essentially hairless when I'm done. I constantly go "Wow, that's smooth". The fact that I never have to throw away an overpriced disposable blade after a couple of days again really makes me happy.

You do if it is a disposable straight razor. Ben has one that you change the blades with, because he wasn't sure if he was going to like using a straight razor so he bought this one to test the waters. Also it was cheaper. Something like this:

You can get straight razors with disposable blades. If I ever make the jump, that's probably what I plan to get. At least to begin with.

Lise cut my hair on Friday! She was not drunk, she was at work. I love love love it but it is two days later now and I am having a really hard time styling it so that it sits perfectly and flicks all in the right direction. This makes me very very sad.

My friend shaved her head about a year ago and it was amazing, not only because it was such a big thing to do (she donated a lot of money, and also the hair - and was part of a team with others who did the same thing at the same time) but also because she felt so different. I think girls who shave their heads get an even more extreme reaction than boys, although you'd better ask the other MaiMoo about that one.

Imma just go ahead and say that most girls have to be really very pretty to be able to pull off a shaved head. Maiada was not necessarily one of them. Make sure you have a really well shaped skull before you do that. Just saying.

i decided to skip the shaved head for now cos i don't know where i'll be working this summer and like the vain bitch i am, i rather like the stupid overpriced haircut i only just got last month. instead i am gonna support my friend who's doing it with a $20 pledge or something.

the hospital is doing it again in may so maybe i'll consider it again then, i'll have a more concrete job situation and i figure by then my hair's gonna be a scraggly unkempt mess anyway.
