Sorry for the "GET A BLOG!1" message, but any help would be appreciated, I am kinda shy and stuff, probably some of you are going what the hell is this scrub talking about, but it is kinda a big deal for me.

This isn't really a forums where people are calling each other scrubs.

Hope you get to go though.

New one I'm stoked for.

Jack's Mannequin is playing in july! They are opening though, but for the fray which isn't bad.  I wish I could have seen Something Corporate, but Jacks will do.  And I have their live dvd to recreate that experience. :(

Ok so MONO are playing in the nearest city to where I live, I want to go see them SO bad but, er I've never really been to a gig because all my friends either don't like music or like music that I personally don't enjoy. Does anyone have any advice about going to gigs alone? Any specific advice for the band, I can't imagine they are gonna get to SUNN 0))) levels of needing a spare pair of pants and earplugs but...

Man, MONO are just so good live. Go to the show by yourself. Seriously. You won't be able to do anything but stand next to any friends that go anyway since it's too loud to chat (and you shouldn't want to talk when MONO is playing anyway). I say go. You won't be sorry and if you stay home just so you don't have to go alone you'll be missing out on some seriously awesome musics.

I don't even know, man. My friend bought a bunch of us tickets to this show for christmas.. It's in Toronto and I don't think it's one of those, and their website doesn't mention it.. We'll see!

I'm missing basement punx this Friday cos I have to take a bus to Boston and go see in-a-club punx.

I guess Mr. basement punx promoter even got a band from Sweden to come over. I love tiny shows with foreign bands. =/

I could go see Pelican and Wolves In the Throne Room the 19th, but it's guaranteed the crowd is going to be full of annoying dudebros so I won't be attending.  I'm kind of bummed out over this.

Really? Anoying dude bros at Wolves in the Throne Room and Pelican? I do not see how that is possible. Plus when I saw Pelican in 2007 there were no dude bros there. You should at least go for Wolves in the Throne Room.

Also on March 25 Romance of Young Tigers plays in a basement about an hour from me. I am so going.

Michael uploaded them to the mediafire thread a few days ago. You should check them out! They play really dense and ethereal (i dont think those two should mix but i think thats the best word combination for this band) post rock.

Wolves in the Throne Room and Pelican

The venue that's hosting is full of Bros Who Go To Every Show.  And Hardcore guys. This and this. kind.  They hardcore dance more than the scene kids do.

Last time I was there, some beaf-headed guy yelled out "North Side Kings rule!" at me, because I had my Misfits shirt on.

Crippled Black Phoenix is finally playing shows in the U.S.

From Wikipedia - "Crippled Black Phoenix is a collective of musicians from many other bands (including notably Iron Monkey, Gonga, Mogwai, and others). In 2004, Justin Greaves began recording primitive sounds he had in mind for years. He was encouraged by Dominic Aitchison, and their ideas would lay the backbone for Crippled Black Phoenix.
Although originally having an unorthodox start, since all the band members were part of and busy with other projects at the time of the band's founding, Crippled Black Phoenix remained committed to staying together and forged their own unique sound. The band writes what they call "endtime ballads," signifying both the slightly macabre nature of their songs and their unusual blend of styles as the final evolution in music. This strange blend has led to them being called everything from stoner-prog to freak-folk to doom.
Crippled Black Phoenix have made live shows a focus and have performed in unusual venues, using Victorian-era instruments in tandem with more modern instruments."

There are three releases that you can find if you look:

A Love Of Shared Disasters
Night Raider
The Resurrectionists

This is a poorly shot video of them playing "Goodnight Europe" live.  Their music starts off slow and builds to a climax so give it a chance, they have range.

This band is worth checking out and their tour starts in April.

what show should I see on 4/20? of montreal, appleseed cast and ratatat are all playing.

inclined towards appleseed cast cause ratatat is all ages and of montreal is playing tuesday as well. I don't feel very strongly about appleseed cast at all, but they are also playing at my preferred venue and my friend wants to see them.

terrible reason to ignore a show.

though i would recommend appleseed cast above ratatat. there will probably be drunk dudebros at ratatat.

since I'm not partial to any of the bands, I'm considering how fun the show itself will be, which is greatly affected by the audience and the maturity of the audience. not too unreasonable. especially when pretty much everyone will be high.

(what I'm trying to say is I wanna meet older guys)

I miss Against Me! every time. They were headlining Warped 06..left early because my ride was starting to get dehydrated. Another time they played the Avalon and I was across the street, at a Red Sox game.

And that tour with Ted Leo and Future of the Left? I'm still kicking myself over not going. I think I missed them AND Earth in the same week.
