Hauss-on-Fah by...uh, Foetus. Don't do that.
Hah, that's one of my favorite of his songs, but it's also really difficult to recommend it since it'd be like, "Hey, check out this fucked-up gospel-inspired track about, uh, I guess, a black family burning to death. It's awesome!"
And for me right now:
LCD Soundsystem -
This Is Happening. Really good, as ya'll should know.
The Fall -
Your Future Our Clutter. It's an album by The Fall. Of course it's good.
Janelle Monae -
The ArchAndroid. Holy shit, this girl's got talent. She's R&B like Outkast is hip-hop: it's ostensibly her genre, but she seamlessly augments it with so many different genres/styles/eras that pigeonholing her seems shamefully reductive. Not to mention she can sing like a demon. And dance like James Brown. And she's 24 and her debut backs up soaring ambition with raw talent in a way most musicians won't ever achieve in an entire career. High contender for album of the year.
Sleigh Bells -
Treats. In-the-moment fun. There's no way it'll hold up for more than a season, so all the more reason to blast it while it's still visceral and fresh.
