I'm surprised that octopodes weren't already on her list.

They're smart, fast and strong.
They can squeeze into tiny spaces.
Their eyes don't have blind spots.
They look like those slavering space creatures from the Simpsons.
Some have frightening sex organs.
Some may be capable of abstract thought.

And why are they kept in separate tanks?  Obviously to keep them from making plans!

Ooh yea, no octopi!  There was some documentary/show on one of the Discovery channels a few years ago that speculated (with pretty good CGI animation) that octopi are in line to take over after the primates, or could have risen to become the dominant species had certain conditions changed.  They could have become air breathing, tree swinging KINGS of the UNIVERSE.

Also, Jeph did the shoulder/hip ratio thing with Marten again so that -- EVEN WHILE HOLDING A TENTACLE -- I thought "wow, Marten's hot".  I try to keep tentacles out of my world as much as possible.  I'm still suffering from exposure to a particular anime of tentacle porn many years ago.  NO TENTAKLEES!

Wednesdays Poll Results:

Other animals that can't be trusted:
Ground Hogs    - 7 (13.5%)
Snails    - 8 (15.4%)
Zebras    - 4 (7.7%)
Toasters    - 6 (11.5%)
very small rocks    - 17 (32.7%)
Fadora    - 10 (19.2%)

I see we have quite a few Python fans here.

As for today's comic, can it be that Faye is beginning to actually tolerate Angus' presence?

she's enjoying speaking to a guy who hasnt hurt her, isnt out of bounds due to her own rules and/or tastes or circumstances.

woo. doesnt mean she's gonna jump his bones. we'll need an actual plot arc to justify that one I think.

I think that the nice human moment they were having prior to the misunderstanding made her feel like maybe she gave him the wrong idea so, instead of slamming him as she has in the past, she tried to head him off in an kind, honest manner. I also think that she has grown some and so isn't as quick to stomp all over him just because she finds him attractive.

Any other geezers on here who survived the seventies remember that line (and assorted variations)? Damned if I can remember the brand of coffee it plugged.

So Faye's actually having, and apparently enjoying, a conversation with Angus, since time slipped away from her. Makes you go, well, you know.

Actually, his forearm IS a coffee mug. It expands when full of coffee and contracts when getting empty. It's like a coffee-controlled crane-like extension of his desire for Faye and her beans ... of coffee Oo

Soulsynger, ah. I don't know how to put this, but, okay: the only way Faye's going to get better is to get out of character. As for Angus being out of character, break-ups do sometimes show one where they went wrong.

Thanks, Celticgeek. I'd forgotten about that wretch Olsen, pusher for the old Columbian Cartel (caffeine instead of cocaine, and they lived in the U.S.) being in on things. I do remember the take-off on Airplane!, though: still perhaps the greatest film ever made. It helped form my rather bizarre sense of humor, paving the way for my Terry Pratchett mania. Mr. P owes ZAZ (Bros. Zucker + Mr. Abrahams) a debt, too, methinks.

And don't call me 'Shirly.'

I'm beginning to like the Faye-Angus dynamic, and I definitely could see them together, but I doubt it will happen right away - it's too soon after the whole Sven debacle. Like Faye said, she doesn't want a relationship just now.

Though of course, the Lord Jeph works in mysterious ways.

All hail discordia!

(on topic..)

Faye is cute, but i'd be a bit put off if they develop in a relationship too quickly - most of the relationships in QC have had a reasonable-ish amount of foreshadowing. Their previous verbal sparring was rather impersonal i'd say, so I'm not really thinking it'd count as character development between the two...

most of the relationships in QC have had a reasonable-ish amount of foreshadowing. Their previous verbal sparring was rather impersonal i'd say, so I'm not really thinking it'd count as character development between the two...
It's debatable, but there are some things that might count as foreshadowing.

Faye calls Angus "hot" in 808, and in 1144 Angus is the first person Faye thinks of when Hannelore mentions "other boys".
