I'm not that surprised Pintsize did that. I am surprised it was Marigold. I really thought he would have broken into Coffee of Domb and bad-touched the staff (and patrons) like a kid in a candy store.

He knows he can recover from being smashed. I doubt he could snap back from being stuffed into an active espresso machine, though.

That's true.

Though that would be a useful chasis, a coffee/expresso maker, for late night lawls.

At this rate, Marten's gonna have to see about getting a Tritanium Chassis.

I wonder if Faye has Agent Turing's number.

It's an established part of Pintsize's characterization that his initialization sequence involves boob-honking. It's a good thing he didn't try out the feature he had in #396.

Carry the zero?  That can't be right, can it?

well, if the carry ended up being ten, then it could be considered carrying the zero while the one gets carried to the next column.  or transcribing a number from one column to another and lost the zero on the way.

Yeah, but if so, you still wouldn't carry the zero. You'd carry the 10. And if you are doing a column of numbers big enough that you would be carrying a 10 (minimum 12 rows deep, and on the average 23 rows deep) then you should be using a calculator, just to avoid silly mistakes. (Or as mentioned above, a computer.

For Dora to be doing all her finances with pencil and paper is at least 50 years behind the times...possibly more considering all the robots and space stations.

Anyway, I'm almost wondering if this is a possible storyline into hiring Hanners to be their accountant?

It would be completely feasible for Hannelore to become their numbers cruncher, and it's a perfectly realistic thing that could happen in the story -

But what purpose would it have to advance the plot? ;)

Don't you see? The OCD is all part of the act! Along with making sure Marten's couch smells like her and not Dora, joining his band and talking to him about sex at every opportunity...
She clearly came up with her "OCD" as an excuse for following Marten around just after she cornered him in the pub.

Or the carry the zero could just have been an error caused by Jeph being sleep deprived from Comiccon and that it could have been any number?  the strip was still funny.

Hah, me too!

It was a funny strip whether Dora forgot to carry a zero or misplaced a decimal point. I sort of panicked when I read panel 2 as well, so I'm glad Hanners cleared that up. Also, Hannelore Coffee of Doom's accountant would be awesomee, especially since it would be something she'd really love to do... I think anyway.

Ohhhh, burn.  True, though.  There are a lot of characters running around.  This happens in any serialized publication, be it webcomic, print comic, TV series or what have you.  If you keep the exact same characters the whole series through, it gets boring.  Main characters come and go, though there are usually a couple of key figures who never phase out.

Man, phasing was such an awesome mechanic in MtG.  So many arguments.

I'm surprised no one got the reference. 'Carry the Zero' is a wonderful Built to Spill track. The close everyt show with it, as it stretches into a 6 to 20 minute jam.

Of course, it could have been an accidental reference, but I'd rather give JJ the B' of the D'.

On a more serious note, I'd just like to thank Jeph for panel 4; a picture of Hannelore not freaking out or being consumed by Generic WorryTM and instead simply being relaxed and nice to a friend. It's good to see.

AH-HA!!! Faye doesnt say that its her "favorite day of the week". She say that it is her favorite of all the 'week days' - as in her favorite of any given Monday -> Friday. Some may draw a 'once a week' implication despite this, but i personaly dont see it.

PS: The legaly protected minimum hourly wage in Australia is $14.31 (i think) per hour. The only way you can earn a smaller amount is if you are on a contract the specifies that part (or all) of your pay is comission based (the minimus rate there-by being determined by you).

Right Now? Not sure of the EXACT rate right now, but its around the $1au = $0.80us

EDIT: On the new comic - methinks pintsize is going to get a new body and that Marten is gonna have alot of disposable income all of a sudden...

I'm not so sure - JJ's passed up more than one chance to give us Pintsize 3.0. I wouldn't be shocked if either (a) the chassis doesn't get sold or (b) it gets sold... only to be replaced by a visually-identical model.

I could imagine it going either way to be honest. On the one hand the idea is that it might work that he has at least the potential for an artwork update/upgrade if he so desires it for pintsize. In some cases we don't see updates because they are believed to be needed so much as the creator wants to make the change. It is possible that JJ might just want to alter pintsize due to some personal desire to do so or because he feels the time is right for it. That being said I kind of like the idea of them going through a little montage of bodies, and one off camera one making everyone who sees it scream and shudder in fear.

That or one with a feature of a remote control off button, might appeal to them to keep pintsize from causing too much havoc. Small comedy of errors with it, and possibly the roomba getting control of it. But meh, that's probably too cliche.
