...
Patriotism is the disease destroying this world.
discuss

I think you're confusing patriotism with nationalism, and maybe xenophobia.  A lot of people do.

Patriotism is the willingness to give of yourself for a greater cause, that of your community (or country).

Nationalism is a distinct favoring of your nation over others - remember, Nazi is short for Nazionalist, the nationalist party.

Xenophobia is a fear of "others", mainly foreigners.  It is closely related to nationalism.

Patriotism does not automatically imply either of the others, but a lot of people seem to think that they're all related.  It is possible to support your country without trashing others!

This message has been brought to you by the Society of Closet Patriots.

Not the way most americans think. considering the history of the use of patriotism, I cannot help to think that the spirit of the meaning has changed from it's textbook definition
I unno it just seems an excuse to make you feel superior than everyone else. (so maybe many people are confusing it with nationalism)

I personally am all for abolishing nationalistic borders. Yes a world order. Within the industrial world, they end up just, as I said, an excuse to feel superior. Also you cannot fight over resources you already possess.
Of course I am being idealistic (and naive in all likelihood).  Until we get the religions living in peace (aughabhaadjfohowe)  there will be fighting. And people will not accept any world order easily. And for quite some time they will still feel like the remnants of their country is better then the remnants of some other country.
But fuck nations. I don't give a shit where you're from. Just play nice

Why even say "people are lazy"?

I mean, that means you're doing literally exactly the same thing as whoever you're attributing the laziness

 Jesus murphy. Yes I am making a generalization. But I have reason to. (like a real reason not some silly stereotypical thing my parents told me as a kid) Also I am calling myself lazy (I never excluded myself) so maybe I have accepted this problem within me. And claiming that you're part of the problem is something that racism, homophobia,and has never done
Humanity does take the path of least resistance.  There's a difference between making a generalization based on little or no evidence, and making one based on how you see the entire human race act. It's like calling the human race greedy. Overall we are. If we weren't a lot of the problems we've had wouldn't of happened at all.

I guess I should clear up what I meant.

"Many people tend to approach dealing with people of a different sort in the easiest way that they can. This usually makes them fall back on stereotypes, especially when they have not had much dealings with said people of a different sort. Much of the time though, this interferes with them getting to know the person as a person, or even prevents them from trying altogether. Which is a mistake."

I see dead people. Well, not actually dead as such, because they're breathing, and sometimes I catch them eating stuff that's clearly not brains, and sucking up lattes instead of blood. They're figuratively dead. Which doesn't mean they're not rather lively, especially after consuming enough joe. Not Joe as in a person named "Joe," of course, or even slang for a nameless person, but coffee. And not someone named "coffee,' either, although such persons are know to exist, and perhaps should be consumed.

Dehydration combined with a thread that mentions "spam tits" and "discreet breasts" and features Evel Knievel quote tunnels can cause one to write the sort of thing above. Fear it.

p.s. Hey! My browser knows how to spell Knievel. The man has arrived.

Purple Spastic Noddle Pants!

That is all.
No! That is not all!

I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I've information vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I know the kings of England, and I quote the fights historical
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order categorical;
I'm very well acquainted, too, with matters mathematical,
I understand equations, both the simple and quadratical,
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot o' news,
With many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse.
I'm very good at integral and differential calculus;
I know the scientific names of beings animalculous:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.
I know our mythic history, King Arthur's and Sir Caradoc's;
I answer hard acrostics, I've a pretty taste for paradox,
I quote in elegiacs all the crimes of Heliogabalus,
In conics I can floor peculiarities parabolous;
I can tell undoubted Raphaels from Gerard Dows and Zoffanies,
I know the croaking chorus from The Frogs of Aristophanes!
Then I can hum a fugue of which I've heard the music's din afore,
And whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore.
Then I can write a washing bill in Babylonic cuneiform,
And tell you ev'ry detail of Caractacus's uniform:
In short, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.
In fact, when I know what is meant by "mamelon" and "ravelin",
When I can tell at sight a Mauser rifle from a javelin,
When such affairs as sorties and surprises I'm more wary at,
And when I know precisely what is meant by "commissariat",
When I have learnt what progress has been made in modern gunnery,
When I know more of tactics than a novice in a nunnery—
In short, when I've a smattering of elemental strategy—
You'll say a better Major-General has never sat a gee.
For my military knowledge, though I'm plucky and adventury,
Has only been brought down to the beginning of the century;
But still, in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern Major-General.

You always see the downside. If Evel had gone out by strapping himself to a retrofitted MX missile and actually making it across the freaking Grand Canyon, you'd say it didn't count because he probably died in flight.

Anyone else remember watching the Snake River thing on TV, or blessed enough to have been there live? Also, if Robbie is a Captain, and Maddness is trying to buck for general, shouldn't Evel be at least a colonel?

(wanders off picturing the U.S. army under Evel Knievel. Motor-troopers, baby, and snazzier uniforms)

Believe me, I have seen these ads before and they piss me off that people can be so fucking stupid when it comes to games.
If your game is failing, quit trying, dont spam tits.

quote tunnel!
Not so much shaking but swinging her hand.
sure, but who sees the hand?
I did?
I thought it was a nice side effect of her erasing the board... but now I see there's no eraser.
When erasing a chalk or marker board, erase with vertical sweeps, not horizontal/side to side sweeps because your ass will jiggle and everyone will laugh at you.

We were taught that in ROTC.

oh noes not agains!
eee! Whatever shall we do??
I have taught you well
What's all this, then?
Nothing Ociffer! I'm not as think as you drunk I am!

I'm going to assume you're not being sarcastic, and tell you that Dliessmgg is almost certainly referring to Randall Munroe, author of the webcomic xkcd. xkcd's fans repeatedly say that Randall gets inside their heads.

I like explaining things way too much.

Thank you, I wasn't being sarcastic.  xkcd isn't in my head nearly as much as those three cultural references in a row from Syrupykeyboard, Dliessmgg, and Raouleferrere were!  it was just... weird.

I'm back now, thanks.  The invasion seems to be over!

At least now I know who I'm dealing with.

I'm glad we can get off of the topic of a game that lies about tits and start talking about WHAT IS TRULY IMPORTANT IN LIFE

Because somebody has to get this thread back to vaguely useful 'discusion'... and Im bored...

Tits should make love, not war.
Or at least happiness.
Good feelings.
Or pleasant scenery.
Headrests, at times.
Perches for ornaments.
I suppose on occasion, mini-billboards (hopefully by supporting a t-shirt).
If circumstances dictate, infant-sustaining milk.
And bouncing, the bouncing, the—where IS Murigeal anyway?
