If you feel better stoned than not stoned, then clearly whatever methods she's using as therapy are ineffective...or at least less effective than pot. I don't think she's seeing the whole picture. Or doesn't want to.

Oh, I would not have reacted very well to 'then why did you bother coming?'  I went to my therapist drunk once (didn't mean to - I thought it would have been out of my system), but he said he couldn't treat me (something about informed consent being necessary for treatment, and being inebriated means I can't consent), but he rescheduled and reassured me that I wasn't a jackass, then let me just sit for awhile getting my shit together before I went home.

I don't know what your options are like, and I know finding a good therapist is often like trying to push a boulder  up a cliff.  She better at least be giving you some referrals or something, if you want to continue seeing someone.

And now I want a baby skunk!  The picture, omg.

I'm going for a diagnosis, not therapy. I've already got a pretty clear idea of what my diagnosis will probably be (dysthymia, ptsd, bpd) but I just need the paperwork saying I'm crazy.

Fun fun. Yeah, a diagnosis of "neurotic depression" would have been a lot quick to get to if my psychologist weren't so insistent that my then-girlfriend and I were having trouble in the sack. Of course, the whole ordeal could've been avoided if I weren't going to see a shrink at the time anyway...but a court order is a court order. Meh.

Smoking weed is supposed to make you feel better though, at least for a little while. It's not a good solution to feeling bad though, especially not on the long term.

It also tends to make you forget things.  Which is why the therapist won't see you on it - you won't remember what they tell you, and may well forget what you were going to tell them...

actually, i manage to remember more things when i'm stoned, to be honest, 'cause i can actually focus for once.

i dunno, for someone with chronic depression (see above: dysthymia - it wouldn't be a new diagnosis, i can tell you that much) something that chronically cheers me is pretty fuckin ace. i'm chronic for my chronic dawg.

I am 2/3 of a bottle of wine deep on a work night and I am enjoying the vaguely sort of fuzzy state. Wine is surprisingly lethal considering I frequently drink neat spirits.

ST. PATTY'S DAY IS COMING UP!

There's a great Irish pub near where I live (Four Green Fields) that makes a great Black and Tan. It is so good. They also serve up these beer battered onion rings that are as big as your hand, two fingers thick-sliced, and battered up just so. It has this perfect sweetness that goes just tasty with the beer.

...I'm gonna be blind and stinkin'.

Anyone else have fun plans for St. Pat's?

I had two glasses of a Bordeaux fancy enough to be a snob about earlier this evening and I am now on my fourth beer, or fifth, I'm not entirely sure.

Luckily, I am free tomorrow and it's my birthday today. FOR  BOOZE AND DRUNKEN OBLIVION!

It is drinking time once again.

Halfway through a Smirnoff Ice and I'm tipsy.

This is pretty sad but at least it's not expensive to get me drunk

But I have to ask, why smirnoff ice?

I don't really like the taste of alcohol and this is sweet enough that I don't really taste the burning

So why not a nice wine then? A little more expensive but a nice red wine and some good cheeses... omnomnom.

Or beer, beer is awesome. (good beer, not cheap piss water beer)

They really don't though. Both wine and beer have distinctive tastes but it's not like whiskey, rum or vodka that leaves a burning sensation going down your throat.

Unless you're drinking something like this beer anyway

Huh... usually it's the bitterness and yeast that turn people away from beer, they're a bit of an acquired taste but most beers aren't alcoholic in taste at all nor do they have significantly more alcohol than Smirnoff Ice.

I'm with you on the burning. Try vodka in soda - my drink of choice lately is a shot or 2 of vodka, a can of Sprite, and a splash of grenadine. It's nice and sweet like Smirnoff but cheaper to make yourself and I don't find I get too hungover from it, I think because you're staying kinda hydrated from all the soda.

Last night though, I ended up sending my sister a long text about getting together today, that ended in "Something about dirigibles, etc., you know."

A friend of mine from college (who we called one-thumb because he only had one, farm accident) would take a container of frozen orange juice concentrate, and put it into a glass only slightly larger than the can with about a shot and a half of vodka, then stir with a spoon.  Every few sips he's replace the missing volume with more vodka.

By the time you could taste any alcohol, you were too drunk to care.

He called it a one-thumb screwdriver.  The name's more confusing than it needs to be, which is half its charm.
