I actually got it like a month ago, but it was still my most recent album purchase:

CHARGE!! by the Aquabats.

I thought they were a dead band, but it looks like they're back.  First album produced by them in 6 years or something like that.  There's no trumpet this time, so it's got a lot more of a punkish feel to it, but it's still delightfully Aquabattish.  Fashion Zombies! and Awesome Forces! are fantastic songs.

"We are your average, ordinary, SUPERHUMAN! punishers-of-evil ROCK-AND-ROLL BAND!  And we've been designate4d to save this crazy world.  We cannot die, for this is our destiny."

A Love Supreme-John Coltrane

There were a few different versions of the reissue and I just got the cheapest one, I think it's the 2003 one.

What do I know really, I have only heard No More Shall We Part and forth, but it just strikes me as a weak album. But yes Rock of Gibraltar is a good song :)

Which reminds that I desperately need more Nick Cave, lucky then that I am going to a sell/buy/exchange shop tomorrow.

I suggest you get Let Love In or The Boatman's Call. Very, VERY different albums, but both brilliant.

No coincidences there.

What?!  You mean you didn't go for the super-deluxe 42nd anniversary gold-plated platinum-re-plated diamond-encrusted OmniDisc™ edition that includes 47 minutes of bonus recordings of John Coltrane urinating?  Dude, it's the best version of the album reissued so far this month!

It turned out to be kind of a lousy shop and all those guys who were there to buy porn gave me the willies! Lots of hardcore and metal, most of it shite and no indie whatsoever. Basically meh, no Nick Cave no nothing. From now on I will buy everything over the internet.

Tom Waits - Alice
Gåte - Jygri(plus a bonus cd)
and some Hawkwind compilation with Space Ritual Sundown Vol.2 and a live cd called Bring Me the Head of Yuri Gagarin.

Exact opposite of the local independent record shop here in Charleston.  We should totally trade record shops.

Anyways, I recently recieved from Amazon John Scofield's "En Route."  It's really good so far.

I wouldn't trade that shop with my worst enemy, so much useless junk. My little brother thought the hardcore was great, but the metal was either Iron Maiden or some shit like Immolation with the odd Eros Ramazotti(italian pop singer) thrown in. On top of it I wasn't feeling well and all the porn got on me nerves.

Oh, well then I rescind my offer.  Iron Maiden is awesome, but I can get them anywhere.  As far as I can tell (being someone who can't stand indie) the shop here is pretty good.  That's what all of my friends who listen to that crap perfectly valid style of music say.

Satanic Panic In The Attic - Of Montreal
Sunlandic Twins - Of Montreal
At War With The Mystics - The Flaming Lips
You're A Woman, I'm a Machine - Death From Above 1979

I went into the store with a solemn promise to myself that I would only buy the first CD listed above.  But then self was all "screw being controlled and rational!" and I ended up with all of themses.

Nick Cave - The Good Son (which I have listened to, and based on the first listen, it's brilliant stuff. Really puts Nocturama in its place.)
Bob Dylan - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan

If I were to get one Iron Maiden album, which should I get?  figured this would be the place to ask.  Because that will likely be my next album purchase.

number of the beast'll most likely be the cheapest but Powerslave' will probably clinch it for most potential fans.

Wire- Pink Flag.

Pretty good, but they're suffering from Helmet Syndrome. Must've been mind-blowing at the time, possibly the first ever art-punk record, but sounds nowhere near as unique anymore. damn shame.

If you're in the US, they recently released a double-CD called 'The Essential Iron Maiden'. Really, except for the exclusion of Hallowed Be Thy Name and Rime of the Ancient Mariner and putting in fucking Bring Your Daughter... to the Slaughter, it's pretty much as good of a collection as you could ask for.

But if you want to get an actual ALBUM (since you may not want to just get a teaser of each album and have to go back and pay for those songs a second time), I'd suggest to start off with Number of the Beast or Piece of Mind. Somewhere in Time is probably narrowly my favorite, but it's a lot different from their earlier, more 'classic' material.

Just judging from the fact a lot of bands that I like tend to be heavily influenced by Iron Maiden, or fans of them tend to be IM fans, I figured I should go that route for a change.  Already got enough albums where it's just the greatest hits of guys who's only songs I really care for are their biggest numbers, like Aerosmith (Dream On = the fucking win), Guns and Roses (Welcome to the Jungle, Sweet Child of Mine, Paradise City, and Sympathy for the Devil are about the only songs they did I can stomach, to be honest.  Power ballads start to drive you mad after awhile), and Pantera (the albums Cowboys from Hell and their best of album is plenty).

STUPID AS HELL best of albums I bought when I sit back and think about it include Led Zeppelin and Ozzy Osbourne.  I should just get every Zeppelin album, because it's fucking Led Zeppelin, and Ozzy is just Ozzy.  Bark at the Moon and I Just Want You are two of my most favoritest songs.

Wasn't there a comic about Helmet awhile back that mentioned this issue- that they don't seem as innovative nowadays?

OK...

"Wire Syndrome: to be a once-innovative band but to seem less unique after some time, after over-influencing too many bands and inspiring too many copyists."

there it is.

MC5- High Time.

Got it during lunch hour. Spectactular.

Well, it's considerably better than their other ones, at least.

New One vs. Old One 1 and Old One 2

Actually, Best of the Beast is good except it still has Bring Your Daughter and not Rime, but it also doesn't have any of their newer stuff, unlike Essential.

And Edward the Great has fucking Holy Smoke on it. 'Nuff said.

I just got word that I didn't get a teaching position I wanted, so I went on a bender at Amoeba Records:

Propaghandi - Potemkin City Limits
We Are Scientists - With Love and Squalor
Jack Keroac - Kicks Joy Darkness
Cannonball Adderley Quintet in San Francisco
Charles Mingus - Mingus Ah Um
Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus
Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker - Live at Town Hall NYC
P.O.E. - Haunted
Against Me! - Crimes as forgiven by
Against Me! - Reinventing Axl Rose
Tom Waits - Blood Money
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Editors - The Back Room
Emerson Quartet - Art of the Fugue (J.S. Bach)

The cashier was very confused.

I'm embarassed of a couple of my recent purchases, not of the CDs (I think they're wonderful), but of the fact that I only just bought them.

Yes - Fragile
ELP - Brain Salad Surgery
Mr. Big - Lean Into It
Nightwish - Once

Pavement - Slanted & Enchanted
It's about goddamn time. I've got two other Pavement albums and I've had almost all the songs off of this one. I feel like I tied some loose ends up.
ALSO:
LCD Soundsystem - S/T
I don't even like them that much, however, I found this cd for 11 bucks. It's a fun enough album.
