I did another raid on the free music draw today...
Got -
 Garbage - Bleed like me
The Coral - The Invisible Invasion (sampler)
New Order - Waiting for the siren's call (again)
The OC Mix 4 (don't laugh! It's got really good stuff on it!)
Pure Reason Revolution - The Bright Ambassadors of Morning
The Features  - Exhibit A - I'm particularly excited by this as it comes in a proper evidence bag, like the ones they use in court.

And singles -
The Tears - Refugees
The Ga Gas - left of centre
Nine Black Alps - Not Everyone
NIN  - the hand that feeds. I like this immensely.

How I love my job!

Ha ha ha! I am laughing! I saw someone on the bus today with an OC CD, they were looking through the liner notes, so to assert my musical superiority, I did the same with the two CDs I bought today:

Help She Can't Swim - Fashionista Super Dance Troupe
Billy Bragg and Wilco - Mermaid Avenue

Ooooh! I want the hscs album, they're local and yet I've never seen them live...

And I maintain that the OC mix is good - though I waited to get home to read the liner notes. They were pretty appalling.

I saw them supporting the Blood Brothers a month or so ago, that's what convinced me to buy the record (I was already considering buying it just because of the cover and title)

Heh.  It's like the record store magically had everything that I wanted last week.  One of these days I should record a mix and post it, I enjoyed the one you made a while back, MilkmanDan.

You're a DJ? This is good!
You should do a mix, fo' sho'. I would love to hear it.

And I just bought God Loves Ugly instrumentals on Vinyl. This means I need Seven's travels instrumentals on vinyl, and I'll have every Atmosphere release. Everything that's not on tape anyway.

I looked for Seven's instrumentals last week, and was disappointed (Always Coming Home to You has been in heavy rotation lately).  I have most of the God Loves Ugly singles and the album.

An Albatross - We are the Lazer Viking

I picked that up at the show with Melt Banana late last week. Stellar show. It's a shame the album is only like 10 minutes long.

On the other hand, I now own an album called "We are the Lazer Viking" seriously, I never get tired of saying that.

The last album I bought was Delerium - Chimera. Nice, ambient music to chill out to. :)

Last album I got off the 'net was Iris - Lose in Wanting EP. It is one of my favourite songs ever and I almost came when my boyfriend sent it to me. I couldn't put a genre on them, though. Synthpop?

It's very...Coldplay.

And Ryan Adams, which is pretty inoffensive

I bought The Flaming Lips' Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, and I have mixed feelings about it. Three, four songs I like I really liked on it, a couple of boring filler tracks (in my humble opinion).

Bought a hard copy of Electric Wizard's opus 'Dopethrone' today. Listening now. Good shit.

Also, on a music related note, I bought four more patches for my patch jacket today:

The Anti-Nowhere League - I Hate People (The guy at the store said I'd scooped a bargain: He'd had the patch in his store-room since the 80's)
Orange Goblin - Deaf By Metal
Dark Funeral - Diabolis Interium
Bolt Thrower - Logo

Built to Spill (I think it's only Doug Martsch though) - Ashes to Ashes.  Some of the staple Built to Spill stuff is on here (I Would Hurt A Fly listed as I Wouldn't Hurt A Fly and Carry the Zero) along with Leonard Cohen, Curtis Mayfield, Cat Stevens, The Replacements, Dinosaur Jr., and David Bowie covers.

Soul Coughing - Irresistible Bliss.
Scared of Chaka - Crossing with Switchblades.

Tribes of Neurot and Walking Time Bombs - Static Migration and DI - Caseyology for my friends birthday.

Hive Mind and Religous Knives CD-R
I got this turbo quick from a distro. It was recorded live on dec 31st 2004. First track is Hive Mind style doom ambient. The Second is an actual recording of the new year passing. Some of the dialogue on it is just absurd. Some of it is someone saying "Go Back To the East Coast" Who knew there was an east coast Vs. Midwest noise rivalry?

Lau Nau-Kuulta CD
This is nice, but what was it recorded on? I got the CD version and it has vinyl Style crackles on it. It still pretty lovely though. Out folk sung entirely in Finnish. Lots of weird droney noises and twangs.

the dears - no cities left.
the arcade fire - funeral.

yeah, i know i'm incredibly behind in the arcade fire fanclub, but it took me forever to warm up to them.  i downloaded "laika" and was underwhelmed cos all i really heard was shouting.  i heard "power out" on the radio and was again underwhelmed.  by the 20th time i heard it i thought it was the greatest song, and now i've bought the record.

the dears record's alright...i liked the single "lost in the plot" but the rest of the record is kinda overdone and pompous, i find.

And I would have bought The Minutemen's Double Nickels on the Dime if CD Warehouse actually carried them. But they won't, because the Minutemen A. Aren't Green Day B. Make music that doesn't suck.
