Electrelane!

'Film Music' and 'The Valleys' from Rock It To The Moon.

In fact all three of their albums rock. It's quite instrumental and sort of dirgey in places but really quite joyous. Often it's very cinematic. And they're all GIRLS. Really a great band, very different.

Beatallica - I Want To Choke Your Band

I love these guys. Beatles songs done in a Metallica stylee, with their own added twist on the songs in question. It's feel good music at its best :D

The Able Tasmans - "Home Me 1".

For some reason, the use of a drum kit behind a string section and a piano strikes me as quite odd but overall very nice to listen to. Is this as uncommon as I think it is, or have I just not listened to enough music?

Talking Shit About a Pretty Sunset - Modest Mouse

I got a discography of this band recently, and I must say listening to anything else, besides Mogwai, is getting damn hard, it's all just so damn good!

I am listening to my mix made entirely of songs with harpsichord.
It looks like this currently:

1. The Beach Boys - I Just Wasn't Made for These Times
2. The Yardbirds - For Your Love
3. Stranglers - Golden Brown
4. Björk - Cover Me
5. Yann Tiersen - Les Jours Tristes(from Amelíe)
6. Tori Amos - Blood Roses
7. Dory Previn - Michael Michael
8. Judy Collins - Both Sides Now(Joni Mitchell cover)
9. Kate Bush - Oh England, My Lionheart
10. Blur - Clover Over Dover
11. The Beatles - Because
12. Joanna Newsom - Peach, Plum, Pear
13. Massive Attack - Teardrop

Anyone know any fungi harpsichord songs? You must know for certain that it's harpsichord or some synth imitating it. There is some other instrument that sounds like it but I don't want that.

What I'm listening to at this exact moment is "Whiskey and Tea" by Those Transatlantics.

They're a semi-poppy, but damn damn fine bunch of musicians from Michigan. (hmm "musician from michigan" has a nice poetic phonetic to it)

anyway, they're awesome and a tad on the mellow side, good tunes all around though, their whole album is great.

oh, i also think there's a rule somewhere stating that if I post I must provide some sort of Interweb link.

Aren't they krautrockworshippers? I have heard good things about Electrelane. Even Saint Etienne namedrops them on Finisterre, the lines goes: "I believe that music in the long run can straighten out most things. There are too many bands that act lame, sound tame. I believe in Electrelane" But I have never actually listened to them. Maybe I should.

Macabre - Dog Guts

Meh I would say they are Death Metal (but you can understand what the singer is saying *gasp* ;) ) band that sings about Serial Killers, this song from the Dahmer CD are, you guessed it about good ol J. Dahmer.

These guys really did their home work, I've learned a few things about him I never knew and for the most part the music is funny.. in a way and got a good beat.

Dräp En Hund(Kill A Dog) - Be Yourself

Swedish girl(as in 13 year olds) punkers who have heard way too much early PJ Harvey.
It's fantastic! they actually sound ominous, I mean one look at the cover and you'd think this would be happy-go-lightly.
And they thank Kim Gordon in the liner notes. I think I have just been out-indied!

If I hadn't won it, I would never listened to it. I was actually a bit disappointed when I found out. I was thinking "damn I finally win something and then it's this crap". Well I was wrong, wonderfully vividly wrong. Of course I am not saying that this is anything other than obscuro. Perhaps akin to an riot grrly Shaggs who can play, but it is great all the same.

I had almost stopped listening to Pixies until the thread on them started, now I can't stop listning to them, if the terribly pretentious term "buzzsaw guitars" ever meant something, it meant Pixies.

GG Allin - Dead Flowers (The Rolling Stones cover)

I have to discussion this, right? It's from his Troubled Troubador EP, which was originally all acoustic stuff, but was rereleased with some of his phone conversations from prison, as well as this live cover. This is probably the only GG Allin album you could sort-of enjoy without buying into the gimmick.

Ah, yes, I often thought that calling it "Home Me 1" made no sense. iTunes imported it from the Flying Nun compilation as that, hence my confusion. There's another song of theirs on the CD, "What Was That Thing?", which is also spectacular.

As for what I'm listening to now, it's "Cut Your Hair" by Pavement. I just picked up luxuriant double CD plus booklet Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain: LA's Desert Origins from JB Hi Fi. Not at all bad for $30. I actually also picked up Wire's Pink Flag, Chairs Missing and 154 all in a box together for the same price at the same place. Delicious.

Anyway, I've never really listened to great deal of Pavement before, and I'm enjoying it so far. I'm glad I picked it up, and I'm going to go for that deluxe Slanted and Enchanted next time I'm at the mall.

Great beginning for one of the best concept albums ever. If you turn it up load enough you can catch fragments of Dr X's speach, which is pretty cool.
