Jesu's first EP is brilliant. Better then anything they recorded so far.

"The Happy Goth" - The Divine Comedy (Absent Friends)

I actually don't listen to this album too often as compared to Neil Hannon's others. This one always felt too instrumental and kind of sad. Nonetheless, I enjoy this song a lot.

Shellac - Prayer To God

My favourite Shellac song, and possibly the angriest song I've ever heard.

I always felt that the song was more sweet and sour, it has humour and he is really more hopeless and sad than angry. For example he asks God to do it because he can't. He is powerless to act, to intervene and he chooses to fantasize instead. I realise that this is not "cool" but what Shellac I have heard is not purely about anger, it is nuanced and that's what makes it great. The way I see it anyway.

Dungen - Panda

Oh I do regret not getting into them sooner, this is such a great song.
It has nothing to do with a panda but anyway.

I think that the song not only expresses a lot of 'grr' anger, but mainly frustration and helplessness.

Anyway, noe

I got the re-release of Sebadoh - III. I think it'll be a "grower" since it's not much like their later albums (Harmacy and the like). The bonus disc includes a 11 minute track that's nothing but show introductions.
The album was originally released in the same month as Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted, as well as Nirvana - Nevermind.

The Count Nosferatu Kommando - Kommando '96

So. Fucking. Awesome.

"You are slaves
Underground fashion-victims
Worship your Satan-TV-thing
And piss off
You underage porn-addicts

We don't care about the scene
We don't care about your teenage shit
Kommando Sechsundneunzig

A smile enlights my sexy lips
Each time I humiliate you
Now the attack must begin
Bunch of weaks, prepare for fight
Pray your Satan, need some help
The Count shall make you face the pain!"

Grendel - "Soilbleed". Live bootleg.

Until now, I didn't realize that, live and without the gasmask on for voice distortion, he really sounds like he's about fifteen years old. Which, as you might imagine, kind of takes the edge of the music. Actually, it kind of adds some much needed humor.

Three cds have been dominating my changer lately.

Unter Null's The Failure Epiphany - just freaking insane how good this is.  It's rare that harsh ebm or anything that resembles terror ebm has a point or is inventive, but this is.

Psyclon Nine's INRI - for my mad-on moments.  Really intense album and a lot of fun.  They're new one, from what I've heard, called Crwn the Frnicatr, looks to be excellent as well.

Angelspit's Krankhaus - I really didn't care much for their first EP, but this release is excellent.  Angry and funny and really balls out.

To Khar:
If you want to get into FLA, people will tell you to start with Tactical Neural Implant, which many consider to be their classic album(and it is a great one).  I personally think they're doing more diverse things now, more challenging things.  The synth on anything post Millenium is just so dense and layered, often with so many different things going on at once.  They've also incorporated a lot of the sounds found in the side-projects like Delerium, Noise Unit and Conjur One into the mix with these later releases.  The latest is no exception.  Artificial Soldier is very, very good.  Also, if you like your FLA angry, check out Decree.  Another side project, but with more of a harsh, metal-ish bent to it.

I'll take that into mind. Thanks for reminding me I still have to buy Krankhaus btw. I really like Angelspit because they sent me a free copy of their first EP and some badges because I drew them fan art. The flipside was I had to work on promoting them to people I knew, moderately tough as almost none of my friends are the kind of people who would appreciate them.

You know, I'm the only one in my local group of friends who actually thinks Unter Null's any good. That said, I found the album to be quite possibly one of the most rewarding purchases I've made in the past month (the other being Cannibal Anthem).

Current music? Life Cried's "Drawn + Quartered" album. Friend burned me a copy, and I think I need to go out and buy the damn thing now. I am impressed. Then again, most every band on United vol. 1's been great, so far.

In other news, I finally registered. Whee!

Pink Floyd - The Gunner's Dream.
The Final Cut is really a love-it-or-hate-it album. I can see why some would hate it. It is NOT a Pink Floyd album, really. It even said on the original packaging: "The Final Cut, by Roger Waters, performed by Pink Floyd." It uses orchestral music a bit too much, it focuses far more on lyrics than music, and if you don't focus on it the lyrics won't make any sense.
And I love it.

Anathema - Temporary Peace

Absolutely beautiful song, The lyrics are amazing:

Beyond this beautiful horizon
Lies a dream for you and I
This tranquil scene is still unbroken by the rumors in the sky
But there's a storm closing in
Voices crying on the wind
This serenade is growing colder breaks my soul that tries to sing
And there's so many, many thoughts
When I try to go to sleep
But with you I start to feel a sort of temporary peace...
