Black Flag

Correct. But it can depend on the particular rage I'm feeling as to what other things I go for (Black Flag on the other hand are always appropriate). For example:

General disgust at humanity:
Chorea
Bolz'n
Das Oath
Xasthur
Charles Bronson
Man Is The Bastard

Anger in a more emo form:
Stalingrad
Love Lost But Not Forgotten
Saetia
Mohinder
Drowningman
Anomie

Getting my intellectual rage on:
Orchid
Creation Is Crucifixion
Stand
Submission Hold
Ed Gein
Discordance Axis
Circle Takes The Square

Fuck, I just want to headbutt THE MAN:
Kill The Man Who Questions
Robot Has Werewolf Hand
Dropdead
Los Crudos
I Shot Cyrus
Public Enemy
Dead Prez
Ebola
Limp Wrist

I am mightily pissed, but I want to party too:
Teen Cthulhu
The Great Redneck Hope
Scholastic Deth
D.S.-13
E.T.A. (Epileptic Terror Attack)
Smackdown
Ultimate Warriors
The Dicks

I just want to kill everybody. Now. Right now:
Urko
The Swarm
Voorhees
Negative Approach

I have a lot of hate. Minor Threat are far too posi to really cut it, they're for chirpy summer days and kicking back with some friends.

My fav goto song when I am angry is probably Battle 2 from Heroes of might and Magic 2. Mostly because the song is dreary and angry at the same time. But any fast paced hard beat song will do for me.

I listen to Liquid Tension Experiment. I know it's not really all hardcore or RWAR or anything, but it seems to work for me when I'm angry. Also, it's great driving music.

Definitely Big Black.

Either that, or some of Smashing Pumpkins' more intense tracks (X.Y.U., Silverfuck, Zero, etc.).

That's them! My favourite title was always 'If God Loves A Winner He's Going To Want To Fuck Me In A Minute (Born To Break Even)'. Unfortunately, they are responsible for a lot of the most dire aspects of heavy music these days. Still, good stuff.

And I can't believe I left off Big Black, Rapeman and Shellac. Albini has so much disgust, wonderful stuff.

Converge, Breather Resist and Nasum... Nothing else is chaotic enough nor rage'y enough.

Black Flag always seems much too mellow ;)

Converge is an excellent choice, and so is Breather Resist. How about a little Crowpath too though? They can hold their own with BR. Or Narcosis, thinking about it they can easily outdo either of them in the chaos and rage stakes.

Converge is the best music for this, they have songs for pretty much every type of angry emotion.

Beyond that, black metal is sometimes just what i need. Impaled Nazarene for celebratory anger, Burzum for depressed anger and Behemoth for when you just want to murder someone.

Some metalcore is also fine for this, I like (some) Poison the Well when I'm feeling angsty and The Red Chord is great when everything is pissing you off at the same time.

Grindcore sounds perfect on paper, but I can't really get my angry on listening to it, it always feels a little too silly.

If you like shitty hardcore I can only recommend a new Victory Records release that my friend dubbed "tard-core" , The Warriors "Genuine Sense of Outrage"  It even has "rage" in the title.  But if you want somthing that's actually worth listening to check out Propagandhi's "Today's Empire, Tommorrow's Ashes" (my favorite Propagandhi album)

Anyone been able to calm a rage with other music? I have not found music that calms me when angry. Thankfully I only rarely get very angry. Granted, I want to listen to a song that will perpetuate my mood, but anyone do it to change your mood?

My default band for rage is

Slipknot

but if I need to release some tension and pent up aggression I tend to go more for the industrial rock like static-x, or even your basic metal like Mudvayne, children of bodom, and disturbed.

seething rage is NIN, Puscifer, and She Wants Revenge to name a few

About 6 years go it use to be SOAD and Linkin Park, but not so much anymore.

Positive hardcore. It's fast and aggressive enough to match the mood but upbeat enough to make you go and bake a cake instead and dance around while you're doing it.

Indeed, so if anybody wants to hear the warriors new album (but I must mention it is retarded) you should get it for free but, only for shits and giggles not for any real musical appreciation.

Slipknot had a good drum sound, the three percussionists sounded great. They never did much with it, granted, but it was still good. Duality was a decent pop song too, definitely one of the better number one singles of recent years. That and Toxic by Britney Spears were thoroughly catchy, they always remind me of each other.

You never know with Slipknot. A friend of mine who's a huge black and death metal fan and usually plays in tech grind bands absolutely loves them. I can't quite see the appeal myself beyond the catchy ones which are kind of fun (and that drum sound), but there you go.

I only defend Slipknot if we are discussing the first album (no, the ACTUAL first album) or if I'm trying to piss someone off.

really disimulate...despite the human drumming i thought this was there weakest effort although admitadly i havn't ehard the one released this year personally i would go for principles and practices followed by world of lies and S/T

and by first album of slipknot i assume you mean mate feed kill repeat?

Yeah, I may put the katzen ist krieg avatar back, since the time of Harry Potter has been and gone.

Or I may replace it with a new av. I was playing about recently making avatars from these comics, might choose one of those (Possibly one I made from the comic about drugs and alcohol, which just has a kid in the foreground smoking a joint whilst someone in the crowd behind him exclaims "HEY! HE'S COOL!", or the classic "You took your best shot Satan! NOW THE YOUTH OF AMERICA ARE FIGHTING BACK!") and post up the rest of my efforts, start a trend or something.
