when i first joined this forum i had pretty long hair and then about a year ago i cut it really short. it was terrifying but then i absolutely loved it and haven't even thought about going back since.

obviously everyone who is not me is not me but you should definitely give short hair a chance because i am really glad i did. if it's awesome it's awesome, if it's horrible it'll grow back so it's not even that horrible really.

Hrm, I still can't decide. I have a while to think about it because I don't plan on cutting it until I move(Read: my mother is a hairdresser and would cry if I cut my hair off, seriously, she'd cry). The problem is that if it's long and you want to go short, you can do it. Yay!

Andy I think you would look awesome with shorter hair but I really really really love the way your hair looks currently, I am very jealous of it. If you want something awesome and shorter though I like to look at suicidegirls for inspiration because despite the nakedness it is pretty much a concentration of cute girls with awesome haircuts. I use their Flickr (http://flickr.com/photos/suicidegirls/) because it is free and it means I don't have to visit their actual goddamn website.

I think you look cuter with more natural colours Jodes, the dark brown you had a while back was my fave.

Anyway speaking of dyeing, I went to a super posh salon to get my hairs done yesterday and I asked for a rich chocolatey brown and it came out sort of black. I have not had my hair this dark before, it might take some getting used to. I feel a bit washed out and have to make up for it with lipstick!

Actually I was thinking just the opposite. Please do not take this as a back-handed compliment, but I was thinking when I saw your pic in the photo thread that your cheeks have more color than before. Have you gotten more sun recently? It looks nice!

Also, your hair should fade out a bit with washing and sun exposure. When you go that dark, it does tend to lighten up a fair bit over the two weeks after the appointment. At least mine did when I was that dark. I have a posh hairdresser now and he has been wonderful about fixing my hair to make it look natural. I hardly notice my regrowth anymore until it's a few days before my appointment.

Oh! And that cut really suits you Lunchy, looks great!

I agree; I adore the actual cut on you. And I also kind of agree with your original assessment. It is a little dark for you, but it doesn't look bad at all and it should lighten up considerably since your natural color is fairly light, right?

I went from crazy long hair down the middle of my back to what I have now with no regrets.

Now, it may be different seeing as I'm a dude and you're a lady, but hair will grow back and the change is great. Plus, think of all the different styles you can try as it grows back! Just my two cents, of course, from one Andy to another.

Ally that looks pretty great. Also if it is semi-permanent dye it'll fade really well after a few weeks. Basically what I am saying is you should keep it.

My hair is pretty damn curly. I'm still not sure whether I want to cut it a little shorter or let it grow out. If I do let it grow, it would probably end up looking slightly hair-metal-ish, except without being permed.
