It was a whole egg. From what I read, if you have coarse hair the protein can dry the hair out, but you still need it, so basically if you don't know if your hair is fine or not (like me) just mix it with a bunch of your regular moisturizing conditioner. If you have really dry hair, put in a tablespoon or two of some kind of oil (I used virgin olive oil, since I didn't have anything else except canola). It looks really awful but you mix it all together and I just kind of poured it all over my hair and stuff, left it for a minute or two, and rinsed it out.
You aren't supposed to do this more than like once every two weeks because the proteins will coat your hair and make it crunchy. Next time I am going to try leaving it on a little longer; there is something called porosity that I don't really know much about, but people with fine hair benefit from proteins and people with low porosity (I think?) need more protein than others, and black/African hair is both of these I guess so some of the sites where black ladies are trying to grow their hair out had recipes for two eggs, avocado oil (it has protein in it) and conditioner and they leave it on until it gets hard and then shampoo it out or something.
I dunno! I was just experimenting. I am really annoyed about the frizziness, though. It is worse than I thought and I am still not sure if that was the egg or the new conditioner I had to use, but I have got to fix it.
