Erm, so I'm going to be seeing Gang of Four in march, apparently. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Like, is their live show still any good?

Also, I'm going to Laneway festival this year, which has the most kickass lineup ever! Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti, Beach House, Blonde Redhead, Cut Copy, Deerhunter, Les Savy Fav and Menomena, to just name the acts I'm interested in.

Also!! Caribou + Four tet playing together, The Books, and Sufjan Stevens all touring here at the start of next year. Fffuck I'm going to be broke.

Girl Talk is playing a show near me in February.  The last show I saw at that venue (the Wellmont Theater in Montclair NJ) was Modest Mouse and though it's a cool venue, the sound was awful.  He's also playing at the end of February in NYC at Terminal 5.  Should I bother going to either show?

Damn, just got tickets for the Casiotone show here in Edinburgh. They're being supported by My Tiny Robots and some guy named Alisdair Young. My Tiny Robots are ace so I'm excited.

I can't get that stoked on Girl Talk these days (though I was listening to him earlier today, go figure), but his live shows are something to behold. You should probably go.

When I saw him there were giant beachballs, confetti, streamers, and um...oh yeah...an inflatable whale the size of a school bus. It's a blast. That was at a big outdoors festival type deal though, so if it's a smaller place it probably won't get that crazy.

Still recommend it though, his mixes feel much less boring and souless live.

Who would be more worth seeing these days; Wire or Gang Of Four?

Both are coming to town, playing the same venue and cost about the same.

I saw Kayo Dot last night. Considering I adore pretty much all of Toby Driver's music, I expected to be impressed, but they just blew my fucking mind. Seeing them live brings a whole new context to their music, and if anything makes sense of it - the Coyote material, for one, was incomparably better in a live setting.

Seeing DJ Shadow tomorrow, as well. Really excited for that, since I've never seen him, and I hear this tour will be kind of like In Tune and On Time was.

I ended up getting really sick the day of the DJ Shadow show, and ended up not going.  :-(

Last show I went to sick was Isis/Pelican/Tombs, and even though the show was amazing, it was a nightmare for me, mentally.

Robyn played in my city yesterday! The show sold out well in advance, it sucked that I couldn't go.

But! I'm seeing Os Mutantes and Ariel Pink on Saturday, so it's all good.

Oh, okay, I guess I totally made the right decision when it comes to buying tickets to a music festival 8 months in advance.

Primavera has now also confirmed Pulp (who are reforming with the original line up), the Flaming Lips, Animal Collective, Swans, Suicide, Belle and Sebastian, Mogwai, The National, Fleet Foxes, John Cale, and Mercury Rev.

Last year it was fantastic, I bought tickets this year without knowing any of the bands that were going to be playing. It's great because it isn't your usual festival situation, you're in the middle of Barcelona, and you can rent an apartment (I think this is our plan this year) with a couple of people or just crash in a hostel for about a week. They're really relaxed on bringing in drinks, and it's easily one of the cheapest festivals out there. As it stands tickets are 130 euros, but I think they're going up in price tomorrow?

Also, it's on the beach, so when you're done with the music (which starts at about 6 in the afternoon, but goes on until 6 in the morning) you can go swimming in the sea! Or you know, when you wake up, just go hang out on the beach!

Just got back from THIS and holy shit it was the best ever.

And apparently Umphrey's McGee and the Decemberists are both coming to Boston on the same weekend in January on 3 consecutive nights, so I might just bring a sleeping bag and ask the guys at the house of blues if I can crash for a few days.

Turned out to be not so bad. Scotrail put a couple of extra trains in service, there was just a lot of queueing (40 minutes) to get on the train, the train ride took two and a half hours, but we left early enough to still make it to the Barrowlands on time, missed most of the support though. There was a last train at 11.16 which we managed to crawl onto and was absolutely packed. In the end, I did a lot of complaining about nothing.
