A film a year for every year you've been alive

<< < (3/14) > >>

Dimmukane:
No, man, Shoot 'Em Up was AWESOME.  Not as a film but as an escape.

Dimmukane:
1987. Princess Bride (there were a lot of good movies this year, but this one is probably the greatest film satire I've ever seen)
1988. The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (I like Gilliam.  But I must've watched The Land Before Time at least 10 times)
1989. Hrm.  Toughie.  I guess Dead Poet's Society.  But ask me 10 years ago and I'd say All Dogs Go To Heaven.
1990. Miller's Crossing.  Mostly because that hobbling scene in Misery is so very hard to watch, even after all the torture porn I've seen.
1991. Silence of the Lambs.  At this point, I'm noticing that the Wikipedia page for 1991 has the titles divided by letter up to M and then it seems like the moderators just stopped caring and listed the rest alphabetically.
1992. Hard Boiled, because of the ridiculous amount of bullets.  Ask me then, The Mighty Ducks.  This was how I found out about hockey.
1993. The Sandlot.  This was just something that happened, we must've rented that movie at least 10 times over the years.  Runner up: The Fugitive.
1994. Dellamorte Dellamore.  Probably the best zombie movie I've seen.
1995. Twelve Monkeys.  I like Gilliam, and my uncle had a small part.  Nostalgia vote: Jumanji.
1996. Trainspotting.  Warm fuzzy feelings: The Adventures of Pinocchio, Muppet Treasure Island and Matilda.
1997. Men in Black.  I can't find reasons to not like this movie.  Poor Brendan Fraser: George of the Jungle.
1998. Tie: Big Lebowski and Truman Show.  One made me wish I could be a slacker, one made me forever self-conscious and paranoid.  But hey, Dr. Dolittle had talking animals!
1999. October Sky, because my dad insisted on making me watch this until I liked it, which didn't take long.  Other faves: Mystery Men and Galaxy Quest.
2000. Werckmeister Harmonies.  Probably my favorite movie in this list.  I REALLY like long takes. Runners-up: Snatch, O Brother Where Art Thou.  HATE: The Patriot.  My little brother got it for Christmas and watched it 20 goddamn nights in a row.

I'm starting to notice that Wikipedia is leaving out many non-award-winning foreign films.  Up until this point at least.  There may be a few inaccuracies due to my tendency to forget movie release dates.

2001. Gah.  Royal Tenenbaums or AI.  Honorable Mention: A Beautiful Mind.  ANGSTY: Donnie Darko.
2002. IT'S A THREE-WAY!  City of God vs. Bubba Ho-tep vs. Gangs of New York.  I miss that movie: Men In Black II; Hey, I Have A Friend Like That Guy: Van Wilder.
2003. Grr.  More ties.  Oldboy (basically got me interested in foreign cinema) vs. Spring, Fall, Summer, Winter... and Spring (said foreign cinema).  I spent 30$ to see this with several groups of people: Pirates of the Carribean.
2004. Shaun of the Dead.  One of the funniest long takes I've seen.  Hey, It's A Road Movie!: Eurotrip.
2005. Hmm...Green Street Hooligans.  So Much Wasted Potential: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
2006. Again, I'm starting to think that some foreign movies aren't being listed...The Last King of Scotland.  Forest Whitaker had me on edge.
2007. Wide Release: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.  Foreign: Syndromes and a Century.
2008. Wall-E.  No additional comment.  Still haven't seen other possible contenders yet.  (I don't go see movies during school)

Odds are I haven't seen half the decent movies that came out in these years, so my list seems a little uneven.
