WCT: March 16-20
« on: 15 Mar 2009, 22:26 »

I have decided that, since I have not done this before, I will take it upon myself to start the weekly comic talk thread this week.

Hooray, Dora is getting a new haircut.

Augh! I was just getting used to Dora's hair. At least the shock was not such a gut-punch since I saw it on Jacques' Twitter. I am wondering when we will be seeing Sven again. I doubt it will be in a Faye/Sven hook-up strip, but I did think he was an interesting character and since we have been seeing more of past characters, I hope this arc does not signify the end of Sven.

She's cute, but people shouldn't flirt with Hannelore. Marten did explain that to Tai, and Dora shouldn't need to have it explained.

'Twas funny though.

Edit: just remembered that Dora has seen Hannelore in her underwear, in strip 800.

The artwork detail on this one was fun. Notice how Dora's hands are turned inward, and her shoulders went up just like you'd expect in that position? And is that an allosaurus on the chalkboard?

Pfft.  "Hannedora," clearly rolls off the tongue better.  And we know there would be a lot of tongue involved, so that's important.  Hmm... or "Hannedore," might be even better.  That way each of their names is missing only one letter...

Meh.  Hanners doesn't do it for me, personally, but I don't see how it's any different than getting "boner'd out" over any other completely unattainable girl.  What about fantasy girls made up in one's own mind; is it also weird to fantasy about them, or only ones that other people make up?  *shrug*  What about celebrities?  What is the actual difference?  You can say celebrities are real, but they are just as untouchable, unattainable, so I don't really buy the distinction, since it is just fantasy that we're talking about.

Exactly. people getting their boner on to a drawing, and people getting one on to Your drawing are two different things.

Now, what about when a character you draw has sexual fantasies about another character you draw? This is making my head spin.

Oh feh, the fan boys have been having the hots for comic women since the early days of Wonder Woman and Lois Lane.  I mean, who was DRAWING those completely unreal bodies?  (which also explains why the male supers were highly muscled eunuchs) .  It's not right, but it's fairly common.  Practically a comic tradition.

Oh -- and Dora is doing this IN FRONT OF Marten.  No hiding, no lying, no subterfuge, no pretending it didn't happen -- lest anyone conveniently forget what the whole stupid Dora/Marten argument was REALLY about.  And if he's like most guys I've met, the idea of his girlfriend in a little girl-on-girl while he's watching is at least fun in theory.   We know Marten had at least one dream about Faye with Dora, so he's not immune to it (it wasn't a nightmare until he dreamed he woke up as a girl).

Lies!

It's not just for 20 somethings anymore.  I need it as a 40 something and so does my son (who's nine, going on 23 ).

And while Dora's aroused, Marten needs to see just how uncomfortable those sacks of beans are...

I did a celebrity once. Believe me, that's far more attainable than a comic character.

I did a comic character once. They're a lot less complicated thaan real people. Then she had to hop over the fourth wall again, and never came back. [/nonsense]

Nah, Handora is better, 'cause it sounds a bit like "Pandora" which is just hilariously appropriate.

And Pandora sounds kind of like "pandering".

Yours is the better answer. I was hung up on some kind of weak "Pandora's box" thing, and it just wasn't working.

And then you get "Handoras Boxes" and everything goes downhill.

There we go.

Early comic is early.
This is a great example of why I love Dora; Marten insinuates something about her, and she just flips it around to him. And he goes right along with it.
So it's probably a better example of how easy it is to manipulate Marten.

Yay! Early comic!

Two problems with it though, both in the last panel:

The word "earing" is missing a W.
Dora's hair magically changed from partially black-tipped to fully blond...
