A Republic far, far Away.
messeduplilkid:
Darke you really sympathize with the Sith? You need to talk about this, I'm really curious how you can feel that way when a bunch of people come to a place, press it's hand against it side until it's about to keel over, and then goes "Hey.... alright.. Sorry about that... let's make a truce... Yeaaah... I know it's totally in our favor but we owned you.. Amirite?"
While I think I see where Bioware is coming from for certain about the whole grey lines everywhere.... I think it's kinda hard to really say anything considering what happens in episode I-IV.
I mean for CERTAIN it's been proven that people who adhere to the Dark Side can be REDEEMED. Also that you can be a GOOD smuggler... Or at the very least you don't have to be evil to be a smuggler. You don't go around thinking, "Mwahhaa, when I bring the spice to this planet that doesn't allow spice, everyone should DIE. You see, because it's poisoned spice. It kills people. Mwaahhaa."
But I also know that the morality system can't put you in different factions... for example. A Sith can be morally good, but that won't change what faction he's on. He can't deflect, mainly because it'd be hard on a mmo where everyone is changing sides frequently depending on their choices. So the limitation there is on two things: (1) that people would take advantage of a system that allowed you to change sides easily and (2) human choice in the game is only as good as the choices presented with us.
satsugaikaze:
I'm sure the game will be expansive enough to give us a near-inexhaustible list of options of morality. And it would also depend on how easily you could switch sides.
Darke:
I never said I sympathise, I said it's possible.
If, however, I was playing a Sith and, for RP purposes, wanted my character to still be "good", I would be completely adamant that the Jedi annihilated my people, forcing us to near-exctinction, and would no doubt do it again if we gave them but a chance.
Agree, disagree, whatever. Star Wars lore means very little to me, hence my plan to be a no-loyalties Bounty Hounter. The Empire has my credits, yo. (In regards to switching sides, I would quite like this to be an option. If I'm a supremely powerful Bounty Hounter and some mega-rich Republic officer or whatever wants to hire me... I want it to be possible.)
Forgive the mega comma splicing.
Boro_Bandito:
That was another cool thing about original Galaxies, factions weren't set at all, you could join one side, the other, or ignore the war completely.
kemon:
ya, but only the empire had at-st's. annoying when friends ditch the alliance cause they want a chicken walker following them around...
but i'm definately going to try out the kotor sw:tor mmo... actually, i won't have a choice. said friend will hound me until i get into it with him.
