Mister Metaphor- Mister Metaphor EP

When I was in high school, I saw this band play an all-ages club. They were nothing short of amazing. Cauterwauling vocals, clinically insane drumming, the epitome of that music-review standard phrase "interlocking guitars"... Every song they played was a perfect fusion of post-punk/indie-prog/math-rock madness, and opened the doors for me to bands like Q and Not U, Don Caballero, Boys Life, and the like.
Unfortunately, they broke up about six months after I saw them play live. In the years that followed, they would eventually reunite to record this EP, a free self-titled affair for their fans, bitching and moaning over the lack of recorded versions of some of their live cuts. Every song on this EP (save for the
hilarious vocal outtakes track "That Was A Bunch Of Shit") matches the intensity of their live show (I still kick myself to this day for only seeing them once), and progressively builds in complexity from the first track "The Observer", right until it hits the breaking point in the chimingly beautiful "This Is How The Day Goes".
So, yeah. Download this EP like your life depended on it.
Their lead singer, Mike Sparks, still sings and plays guitar in the band
By Sunlight (formerly known as Bridges), and they too are rad and I have seen them live about twice now.
