It's official Martin has gone from quirky guy who likes indie music to hipster douche who thinks he's better than us i hate those guys
Almost 10 years and people still don't get his name right.
Also, what? What made you think that? Are we reading the same comic?
I think he was using rhetorical hyperbole. ... Or am I being naive?

Count me in as another person who has been wondering how Tai and Dora have been doing. (Speaking of sapphic relationships in comics, one day I followed a Go Get a Roomie banner ad on here, and promptly fell in love with that comic.)

Although Claire is shooting up my list of favorite characters like a rocket. She might even have topped Hanners and Tai.

Also it's weird to see QC back in the vein of "reference to indie band I've never heard of." When I was archive binging, I'll admit there were quite a few references that I was like  :?

I'm kind of indifferent toward her myself, but she definitely has had a few moments I thought were cute. I think she doesn't have as much of a filter from her brain to her mouth as the other characters, and that can get old pretty fast. I don't have much patience for people who say whatever comes to their mind without thinking, whether it's heinously rude or heinously stupid or heinously unnecessary (not saying she does/dd this; just saying I know a lot of people without that filter that do these things). Claire's punchline this strip is similar to what I'd say in my head, not out loud. If she trusts him so much, there really isn't a need to be that snarky. There's a difference between her jab and the playful ribbing from Faye. (Then again, I do from time to time say things that reallllyy come out the wrong way that seem hurtful when I don't mean them to be. Maybe she's just more awkward than I realized.

Hmm. Is "prickly" a fair word? I can think of two occasions when she's gone seriously negative, and in both she apparently felt under attack (wrongly so, since both involved Marten).

I thought it was an interesting take on what one person would consider a fond memory just being a weird / pretentious / boring story to the listener.

If you listen to Bach compositions in certain keys you could find yourself with a two minuets (minor)
That passed so far over my head, I didn't even feel the slipstream.

Australia went metric before I came to live here, but it was not until 2008 that laws requiring certain goods to be packaged in legacy Imperial unit sizes, despite being labelled in metric units, were repealed, and the custom persists. Jam is still often sold in 453g (1lb) jars, for example.

Marten isn't a hipster douchebag, but dear me, I can see why Claire might feel that way. I sympathise with prickly people, but calling Marten out on it like that was a little hostile. And yes, as others have pointed out, back to the future with indie hipster snobbery jokes!

Anyway...

If, like myself, you too are an ignorant brute who has only recently emerged from the broken wastelands beyond the edge of civilisation you may not have realised that ReaderCon, as featured on Claire's t-shirt, is a real thing:

http://www.readercon.org/

I'm sure she had fun at the 'Meet the Pros(e) Party'.

For comic #2363...

1. I never tire of non-sequitur strips with "Tannelore."

2. Also, "Tannelore" continues on.  I now wonder if this will be a permanent skin-tone for her?  (Unless I missed a Jeph comment saying so?)

3. Had to do some archive digging because I wondered if the guy in #2363 was the same as the guy who attempted to flirt with "Tanners" back in #1856: The Inner Universe.  Leaning towards, "not the same guy," but I am also quite weary at this late-hour post-work posting so I could be wrong.

4. Warning - while you were reading, +7 more customers are now lined up in Coffee of Doom all shushing you now. You may wish to review your post.

Maybe her new skin tone is meant to show that she is becoming healthier? Even if that wasn't Jeph's meaning, I like to think of it like that.

I love this comic!

The only problem (if it even is a problem) is that Hanners was asked whether she "can handle things" while they're gone.

The literalist in me would like to see her actually handling things (like the cash register, the portafilters, grinders, cups, customers, etc).

For her to be so intent on watching the shop, Dora should have asked "You sure you can *watch the shop* while we're gone?"

That said, I Still Love This Comic!
