My nose immediately got a little stuffy and it was hard to breathe, so I took it out the second night and it closed up (I knew it would happen but I had to).

I'm guessing it was a small gauge, so I wonder how it made it hard to breathe. You could always get it again with smaller jewelry!

Jimmy, you need both enough actual nipple and enough areola to support the jewelry. His nips are smaller than a piece of corn. I suggest talking to a respectable piercer - many piercers would have pierced my ex, but they would have just rejected. You need someone that will say no if they're unlikely to heal, not someone that will do it anyway just to get your money.

The jewelry wasn't big (14 I think), but combined with the stuffy nose it was too much for me. Also at this point I'd probably get a tattoo before I tried repierced anything.

Nipple piercings on dudes. Specifically this dude. Provide your thoughts.

Yes. Definitely yes.

I've never really understood the appeal of nipple piercings. That's not "I don't like them", I just don't get why.

That's ok, you're not exactly the target audience. Also it's an individual taste thing. There are lots of piercings I don't love the look of. But other people's bodies are not mine to make decisions about.

I am hoping to get a little more sensitivity after getting mine pierced. And if I don't, I'll still love the look. I also want to sort of... make my body my own. It's a small part of why I modify it the way I do.

Jimmy, this was the important part of my post you ignored. Neko, thank you, that answered my question. I was curious if it was just aesthetic or if there was some benefit as well (I could've phrased it better, but yeah).

Sorry!  My post probably sounded angrier than it should have, I was just explaining my position. I'm not sure I understand what you mean? You don't understand why someone would want to get their nipples pierced? Same reason as anything else. Because I want to!

Yeah there's absolutely no guarantee, or even really any likeliness, of gaining any sensitivity with any piercing. I am not very sensitive in the nipple area and I'm just hoping that having the extra weight will make a difference. But I wouldn't go for it if I didn't also just love how they look. The large majority of people get piercings and tattoos and other modifications because they like how they look.

I was wondering if it was just for aesthetics or if there were other benefits. Either are good reasons! I was just curious why you wanted to, and that's out of curiosity, not in a "you shouldn't do it" sense. You seemed to be asking if you should, and I was curious why you wanted it, as that would help answer whether you should or not.

Purely aesthetics.  I think it would look cool, I wanted to find out whether other people thought it looked cool.

^Agreed.

I worry about getting mine done because all of my piercings have ended up complicated and angry and infected and rejected, etc, etc, etc. I get a lot more enjoyment out of my tattoos than I do wrestling with piercings. (I also worry that it would hinder breastfeeding situations when those days come.)

But on other people? Yes, please! I love the way they look!

I'm convinced that your piercings would go better with high quality jewelry, probably in titanium.

Y'know, with the amount of experience you have, I'm inclined to agree with you but my general pessimism, picking problems and lack of funds make it hard to want to test the theory.

As it is, I spend a year saving for each of my tattoos. 2013 was the first year I've skipped since my first one. Makes me sad.  :-(

She has to save those as well, I'm sure.

The problem is that I have no specific date. I know I want it to be in the next year, when it's not hot outside. But it sort of depends on when I get my settlement check.

I think I'd find a nipple piercing intriguing, on a man or a woman, but be concerned about the potential for accidentally hurting them if I caught it or something. For myself it's not something I'd consider, partly because it just wouldn't suit the image I have, and partly for the same reason as littlecheese mentioned - the fear it would impede breastfeeding.

Does anyone have experience with tattoo concealer makeup? We need some for a play that starts this week, so it has to (a) actually work under bright lights and (b) be available in a store. The tattoo isn't very big but it's visible and all wrong for the period (1956) so they want to cover it up.

Sephora should have some good options. I think Kat Von D has a decent makeup line, including tattoo concealer.

Normal concealer is not made to cover thick, heavy coloring on the skin. It is just for things like red spots and blemishes.

The Kat Von D stuff had really mixed reviews everywhere I found... They looked for Dermablend but couldn't find it locally so the props guy went and got $50 worth of Ben Nye stuff. The actor wasn't thrilled because it's a pretty small stage and he was worried about an obvious cover-up patch being noticeable at close range. Then one of the other actors expanded it with sharpie so it looks like a WWII Army tattoo instead of a quarter-sized blob. The director likes it so we're returning the makeup.

Regardless of your opinion on gauges, I think we can all agree it sucks to be this guy: http://www.funnyjunk.com/Thank+you/funny-pictures/4974641/

Side note, seen some photos circulating of people gauging the space below their lower lip... that seems like bullshit to me for some reason...

Jeph has a hole in his face? Cause in these pics you could see the dude in question's teeth which does not strike me as safe, or sanitary... >.>;

Like I'm cool with most piercings, even some of the wilder ones, and I have friends who really dig suspension, but... ick.

Firstly, it is stretching, not gauging. Gauge is a form of measurement, like inches or centimeters. Just had to set that straight.

Also yes, Jeph has his lip stretched, though I don't know how large. I used to have mine stretched to a 6g, and I can't wait to get it pierced and start stretching again.

Also also, I will be getting my nipples pierced at 12g or 10g this week :D
