I must say I enjoyed growing up in the suburbs.

To be fair, I've never been to a suburb I'd enjoy living in.

It's funny because everyone on this board hates the suburbs but in Sydney if you don't live in the suburbs then you probably live in a small town in the middle of nowhere. Sydney doesn't have a lot of residential housing in the city central (there are some really expensive apartments but that's really about it), it's basically all just businesses and hotels. This means that basically every suburb has it's own little business district and some of the outer suburbs (Parramatta especially) now have their own CBDs so they are basically almost separate cities.

The Suburbs. Only boring if you're an idiot.

Outside of missing the internet, I do enjoy Middle of Nowhere, USA I will not deny. In the US, I'd just prefer to live in a smaller "right outside downtown" community than either honestly. Boredom just has nothing to do with it in my case. The general Suburban attitudes may be slightly different in other countries though.

Suburbs are just terrible for the environment for the most part. You need a car to get anywhere. Out of food? Get in the car. Going to work? Get in the car. School? Car. To have fun? Car.

There are a few suburbs of Chicago that are pretty self-sufficient in terms of businesses and things to do, but there are just as many that are essentially entirely devoid of culture or points of note. Suburbs, oddly enough, are not all created equal. So as for the statement:

The Suburbs. Only boring if you're an idiot.

I have no problem with it, provided it's assumed you mean

The Suburbs of Sydney. Only boring if you're an idiot.

It sounds like Sydney is very much like LA, though. From what I am told very few people who "live in LA" actually have LA addresses.

This is how pretty much any part of the Phoenix Metro area is in Arizona. A car is required.

It's when people say that sort of things that I am happy I live in the more city-like parts of the Suburbs of Montreal.

It is either expensive or deadly, that's why I said the southern side of DC.  Meaning Virginia.

Yeah, this same thing applies to a huge ammount of small towns. I live in a small town in Pennsylvania, and I can't do any of those things without driving. The difference, to me, is that in a subur at least theres SOMETHING to drive too. I am currently looking for work to move out of the country, into the suburbs.

If you're confused by that image, remember that all Christian believers are a part of the body of Christ, because the Body of Christ is the Church. Yep, liberals, what with their militant homosexuality, their atheism, and their sorcery (seriously?) are crucifying the polity of the church on the cross of public education. See, because in the public school your kids are going to find out that not everyone is a bible-believing Christian, which may mean that they'll turn away from the church. It's not because Churches have consistently failed to adequately meet the needs of their parishioners that they are failing, it's because of those damned liberals with their education. Get your kids in private school today my friend, before the monkey-like California Department of Education makes them all believe in evolution and Islam and the importance of critical thinking.
